FDA and BfR approved surface treatment agent

Surface treatment agents approved by FDA and BfR (regulations related to food packaging materials)

We introduce surface modifiers that solve issues related to the surfaces of ink films and coating films. Recently, meeting regulations concerning food packaging materials has become a priority in the formulation design of printing inks. We have selected about 20 products from over 100 surface modifiers offered by BYK that are approved by the FDA and BfR. These products address challenges such as wettability on substrates, surface slip properties, smoothing of coating film surfaces (leveling properties), and reduction of dynamic surface tension.

Differences between leveling properties and wetting properties.

Introducing frequently asked questions! What is the difference between leveling properties and wetting properties?

"Leveling property" refers to the smoothness of the paint film achieved through the flow of the paint before the film is formed, which is not affected by the unevenness of the substrate or the primer, and helps suppress defects in the paint film such as beading and dents. Additionally, "wetting property" is the characteristic of paints and inks that allows them to be applied to the substrate without gaps or beading. Generally, a lower surface tension (surface energy) results in higher effectiveness and correlates with higher fluidity (flowability). *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Case Study] Repairing an Aging Concrete Pit in a Short Period of Time!

Repairing aging concrete pits in a short period of time!

The chemical company is facing difficulties as corrosion in the concrete pit has progressed, and they want to carry out repairs but cannot due to the tight construction schedule. Issues and Points: 1. The production plan allows for a maximum production stoppage period of only 5 days. 2. The current erosion status of the underlying concrete cannot be assessed. 3. If there is erosion in the concrete, the usual repair method would take more than 20 days. 4. There is a possibility that highly corrosive liquids may flow in, so the surface lining material must be highly resistant to corrosion and have low water absorption.

[Case Study] Metal Product Coating Industry: Treatment of Circulating Water in Coating Booths <Ishikawa Prefecture>

A case where the circulating water was able to maintain a very clean condition even after 6 months.

We would like to introduce a case study of the introduction of "Aqua Nature TR/pH Adjuster" in the metal product coating industry. When utilizing circulating water in the painting booth, the water would decay and produce a foul odor, leading to a poor working environment. Additionally, regularly disposing of all the circulating water as industrial waste incurred enormous costs. After the introduction, water quality analysis of the circulating water revealed that it met the sewer discharge standards. By discharging the supernatant into the sewer, we were able to reduce the disposal costs for industrial waste by more than half. [Case Overview] ■ Challenges - Want to suppress the occurrence of foul odors - Want to reduce disposal costs for industrial waste ■ Effects - Even after six months, the circulating water was able to maintain a very clean state *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

pH adjuster

Effective in raising the pH of dampening water with neutral paper and UV ink! Introducing a pH adjuster for dampening water.

We handle a "pH adjuster" for dampening water. The capability of general acidic dampening solutions is designed to react within a weakly acidic range (pH 4-6), but depending on water quality and the type of ink (UV ink), it can occasionally exceed this range (pH 4-6) shortly after printing begins. While this can be addressed with dampening solutions, it cannot cover all cases. Therefore, we developed this product to adjust the pH from the alkaline range to the acidic range. 【Features】 ■ Effective in preventing the rise of dampening water pH due to neutral paper and UV ink ■ When used with a pH adjustment device, it can stabilize the dampening water pH ■ Eliminates the need to add dampening solutions to lower pH *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

pH Adjusting Agent "Parish Guard α (Improved)"

This is a seasoning liquid designed to prevent spoilage and to create fluffy, good-quality rice that is less likely to develop sourness.

"Parish Guard α (Improved)" is a pH adjusting agent designed to prevent the spoilage of rice and deterioration during chilling. By adding it during cooking, it enhances the flavor and whiteness of the finished product. Additionally, since it uses natural materials, the additive labeling can simply state pH adjusting agent or acidity regulator. 【Features】 ■ A seasoning solution designed to prevent deterioration due to chilled logistics and low temperatures. ■ A seasoning solution designed to minimize oil addition during molding, preventing oily products. ■ Suppresses deterioration over time, maintaining the quality of the product even after 24 hours. ■ Although the pH value is acidic, it does not have a strong sour odor. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Plant growth regulator (growth-promoting effect through the opening of stomata by fusicoccin)

This is an invention of a plant growth regulator using the stomatal opening effect of Fushikokushin.

Fusicoccin, a diterpene glycoside isolated as a metabolic product of fungi that parasitize trees such as almonds, has been reported to irreversibly open plant stomata and induce continuous transpiration, leading to the death of the plant. In this invention, it has been revealed that under sufficient light and water supply, fusicoccin functions as a plant growth enhancer.
