The lead-acid battery is fundamentally composed of metallic lead (Pb) as the negative electrode, lead dioxide (PbO2) as the positive electrode, and dilute sulfuric acid (H2SO4) as the electrolyte. During discharge, the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte is consumed, and as discharge continues, the concentration of sulfuric acid decreases and it transforms into water. The reverse phenomenon occurs during charging. Current flows due to the movement of ions in the electrolyte and chemical reactions at the electrodes. Lead-acid batteries can be damaged if over-discharged or left after discharge. Our company has established an environment for prototyping and evaluating both small pellet cells for material potential assessment and laminated cells that allow for more practical evaluations. All-solid-state batteries require high-pressure interface bonding treatment to join the active material-solid electrolyte and the interfaces between solid electrolyte particles.
