However, traditional cutting methods for verification purposes have the following challenges: Deformation and damage due to heat generation: High temperatures can deform the material, potentially hindering the verification of the fastening state. Accuracy degradation due to wear: The cutting surface may wear down, making it difficult to accurately assess the original condition. Verification impossible due to damage: If damage occurs during the cutting process, verification itself becomes impossible. The torii gate at the shrine is adorned with a plaque that typically displays the name of the shrine and the deity enshrined there. This plaque, known as the torii kami-gaku, is usually made of wood and features intricate carvings or assembly work. It is also referred to as torii-gaku or hen-gaku. In recent years, many have been remade in metal (aluminum) while maintaining the traditional design and ensuring strong support. Our company has also undertaken part of this production. The torii kami-gaku is cut using water jet technology. The famous cherry blossom spot, "Hirano Shrine" in Kyoto, features a torii kami-gaku cut from A5052 aluminum with the characters "Hirano Kōtaijin" measuring 15mm x 550mm x 1810mm. The surrounding frame measures 10mm x 1085mm x 2215mm. After the water jet cutting, the gold-colored parts of the surface are finished not with paint but with gold leaf at the request of the client, and the receiving brackets are also beautifully finished with excellent craftsmanship.

Enamel is a product that involves fusing a glass-like glaze onto the surface of metal materials such as iron and aluminum at high temperatures. By the way, enamelware is also referred to as cloisonné or cloisonné enamel in the context of crafts. It can be used directly and is heat-resistant, and due to its high thermal conductivity, it is excellent as a cooking utensil. Since it is covered with glass, it does not rust and has excellent cooling properties. Additionally, it is said to be resistant to retaining odors. Cast iron enamel pots are made using a special manufacturing method that increases the contact area between the metal and the glaze, allowing for precise measurement of whether the performance meets the design specifications. For the verification of the internal structure of a commonly used full-bore design in fluid control and the piping joints, water jet cutting is optimal for accurately verifying the structure of a ball valve, which has a smooth cutting surface compared to other cutting methods and operates by opening and closing through the rotation of the valve body, without any impact or thermal deformation. The lever handle was pre-removed for setting, the valve housing was made of forged brass, the ball was nickel-chromium plated, the seat material was fluororesin, and the O-rings were made of fluororubber. Despite the various materials and void structures, we were able to perform the cutting without significant damage, including to the movable parts.

EVA foam playground water jet prototype cutting

EVA foam is a soft, elastic, and highly durable material that does not produce dioxins when incinerated, making it an environmentally friendly option. It does not contain endocrine disruptors and meets the standards of the Food Sanitation Act. Although it is a foamed material, it is high-density and sturdy, combining elasticity and flexibility, making it slip-resistant and quiet, while leaving no marks on floors or walls. Due to its low hardness, water jet cutting is used, and considering verticality and the occurrence of cuts, it is cut to a thickness of 60mm. It is further bonded with a safe and environmentally friendly adhesive, resulting in a total thickness of 240mm. Regarding processing data, it can be converted from various media such as image data and drawing data.

Cutting of resin and integrated molded metal assembly parts.

With extensive experience and proven results in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, resins, and composites.

A workpiece with a cross-section formed by integrally combining resin with high strength, heat resistance, sliding properties, low wear, lightweight, and chemical resistance, and stainless steel with excellent properties such as heat resistance, processability, and strength, was cut for cross-sectional inspection. The cutting was done using a water jet, which does not apply continuous stresses such as heat or vibration to the material. However, after starting the half-split cutting in a state where the product specifications were completely fine, when approaching the center, some areas were damaged due to the release of stress caused by the differences in expansion and contraction of the materials. Although we have performed various workpiece cuts, this was a first-time experience. There were no issues with confirming the molding conditions other than the strength test.
