Water jet cutting of alumina ceramic substrates for firing setters.

With our extensive experience and track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

The firing process is diversifying to meet various needs. We accommodate custom specifications for electric furnaces beyond standard sizes. Plates with an alumina (Al2O3) purity of 99.5% or higher are industrial materials with excellent heat resistance, hardness, and electrical insulation properties. Due to their hardness and brittleness, a different approach is required compared to general metal materials, which may involve diamond saws or special electrodes for wire electrical discharge machining. However, considering factors such as thermal impact, cost, delivery time, and processing accuracy, water jet cutting was chosen. First, we conducted a test cut just to be safe; although a tapered cross-section was produced, we determined that cutting was feasible and officially accepted the order.

With our extensive experience and proven track record in water jet cutting, we accept requests for prototyping and verification cutting of difficult-to-process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites.

It seems that each manufacturer has its own characteristics regarding drill chucks that can secure cutting tools without using a chuck handle (chuck key). While you expressed a desire for complete equal division, I considered that after cutting, parts other than the body might detach or fall, making it difficult to maintain the condition. Therefore, I proposed cutting at an offset from the central rotation point. Although the state is somewhat difficult to diagnose, there is little disturbance on the surfaces of the cavities and gaps, and various materials such as iron, alloy steel, chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel, carbon steel, TPE, PA, and PP were cut into easily verifiable cross-sections without separating the spindle or guides.

This is where next-generation power semiconductor materials are gaining attention. Compared to conventional materials, they are ideal materials with high efficiency and durability, but they are extremely difficult to process, with processing costs being tens to thousands of times higher. In response, our research laboratory has developed laser slicing technology. By transmitting laser light through the material, we utilize the heat generated to form countless microscopic cracks. By creating a fine chain of these cracks, we have developed a technique to slice the material thinly. In our previous research, we have successfully sliced various materials, achieving reductions in processing time and material loss that surpass conventional technologies. Once the material is set, it can be cut instantly without sound or vibration. We aim to achieve a processing technology that is truly like magic.

Ultrasonic welding machines are a technology for joining multiple thermoplastic resin and synthetic fiber parts. By applying ultrasonic vibrations and pressure simultaneously, they generate strong heat instantaneously at the joint surfaces of the parts, melting them together. Compared to thermal welding, the power consumption is about 1/4, resulting in beautiful joint surfaces, higher safety due to the absence of a heat source, and no damage to films or other materials. In addition to stand-alone welding machines, we also handle roll seam units that allow for continuous sealing. Custom-made ultrasonic units can also be installed on existing packaging machines.
