Non-contact linear encoder for long-distance measurement support ∞: Makome Research Institute

Length measurement can be performed even at distances and environments where laser measurement cannot reach. Maintenance-free with a magnetic system. The measurement distance can be extended infinitely by adding more.

Automated warehouses, elevators in high-rise buildings, conveyors, etc. are suitable for long-distance measurement where laser measurement and wire-type or contact-type encoders cannot be used. Additionally, scales can be attached to curved surfaces for measurement (there are limitations on the radius that can be measured). Non-contact displacement sensors.

[Case Study] Eliminating Variability in Work Cutting Machines

The repeat accuracy of the work cutting machine is not as expected! Here is an example of the introduction of a linear encoder system!

The accuracy of the aluminum work cutting machine was unstable, leading to unnecessary work due to the need for accuracy checks every time. We are considering the introduction of a photoelectric system, but it was mentioned that "there is a possibility of false detection due to aluminum dust." We received requests such as "we want a scale that is not affected by aluminum dust" and "we don't mind an accuracy of about 0.1mm, but we want to keep the introduction costs low." Therefore, we installed the "SI-140PAC (Incremental)" made by Makome Research Institute on the aluminum cutting machine. As a result of the improvements, we reduced unnecessary inspection time and achieved zero in inspection time, inspection downtime, and inspection line downtime. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Measuring the steering wheel rotation angle of a car non-contactly.

Frequent "skipping" errors with optical sensors! How can we prevent interference from factors like stray reflections and dust?

At an automotive safety inspection company, the steering wheel rotation angle of vehicles was measured using optical sensors. However, due to issues such as light scattering and dust accumulation, "missed reading" errors occurred, leading to an increase in the number of tests and a significant decrease in work efficiency. There were requests for "sensors that are not affected by external disturbances" and "keeping the introduction costs as low as possible." The linear encoder system "SI-140 series" that we recommend consists of the magnetic detection head "SIE-140" and the magnetic scale "SIS-140." Installation is simply a matter of wrapping the "SI-140" around the steering axis of the vehicle. The number of measurement tests, which previously took 5 times, has been reduced to just 2, less than half. This has compressed the testing work and time, decreased "missed reading" errors, and improved testing accuracy. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Absolute (absolute value) non-contact magnetic linear encoder

[Sample loan available!] Standard set of absolute type featuring a compact head with a width of 65mm, resolution 0.01mm.

The "SA-200 System" is an absolute linear encoder system that employs a compact dedicated head. It comes as a set with a dedicated scale measuring 65mm in width, 20mm in height, and 25mm in depth. The detection distance of the head can achieve 0.3 to 1.6mm when the material of the mounting base is magnetic. Due to its absolute detection capability, it allows for re-measurement without returning to the origin after power is restored. 【Features】 ■ It is a non-contact absolute scale system that allows for a large distance between the scale and the head. ■ Measurements are unaffected by dust or debris due to magnetic detection. ■ The system is available with varying detection distances and resolutions. *Sample loans available *For details, please contact us or download the PDF materials.

[Case Study] Eliminating Losses During Line Changeovers

Various losses occur during the changeover on a line that handles multiple varieties! Here is a case study on how we improved monetary losses in about 13 operational days!

We have adopted the "Kanban production system" and produce 15 varieties of products on one line, but on busy days, up to 8 "changeovers" are required. After recording the changeovers on video and analyzing the situation, it was found that the "overall equipment efficiency" and "net operating rate" were declining. Therefore, we held discussions with the maintenance design team and automated the changeover process. We installed Makome Research Institute's linear encoders "SIE-140 (incremental)" and "SAE-200 (absolute)" on the motor-driven thickness adjustment machine. As a result of the improvements, the operating time rate increased, and changeover losses were transformed into production that generates revenue. The initial investment was 4,852,600 yen, but the cost-effectiveness improved the monetary loss in about 13 operating days. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Rotary encoder, magnetic type, completely isolated, non-contact.

Magnetic type, complete separation, non-contact (up to 10 mm) for detecting rotation angle! Rotary encoder.

This product was born from our company's linear encoder detection technology. It detects the magnetic field of the N and S poles and outputs the rotational movement as pulses. By using a two-pole magnet, we achieve a detection distance (the gap between the sensor and the magnetic body) of 8mm ± 2mm. Eccentricity is allowed within Φ1mm (±0.5mm). Due to the lack of mechanical connections, it is resistant to vibration and shock, making it suitable for use in rotating parts of robotic arms and construction machinery without coupling. Additionally, due to the absence of resistance, it can also be applied to tension control for films and paper. Please consult us regarding the shape of the magnetic body and the number of pulses per rotation. Sister product: Rotary potentiometer We also have the MRP-5026 with a voltage output of 1-5V and a current output of 4-20mA. *Linear sensor, linear rotary sensor We have evaluation samples available, so please feel free to contact us.

MACOMEasure Magnetic Linear Encoder

It is a completely non-contact magnetic linear encoder that is resistant to dirt and less prone to malfunction.

You can easily measure areas where you previously used a tape measure or gauge with digital display measurement. This includes cutting aluminum and woodworking materials. Digital display of rulers. Replacement for optical, contact, and wire encoders. We have many records of maintenance support for discontinued products from other companies (Easy Scale VP-90). *There are cases where the display unit can be reused. Widely adopted in in-house jigs (contributing to Kaizen proposals). Please also utilize it for DIY projects. Since it is magnetic, there is no miscount due to contamination from non-magnetic materials. With the SI-140PAC, you can use it immediately as long as you have AC100V power supply. First, please watch the video (YouTube). *Sample units available for evaluation.
