Large enclosure frame with insulation material

We would like to introduce an example of a large enclosure frame with insulation material produced by Mitsuya Co., Ltd.

This product is a machine device housing with dimensions of W; 5,800, L; 3,150, H; 2,750, and it has been designed as a three-part frame for consideration of manufacturing and transportation. The photo shows one of the three parts. Additionally, the main photo intentionally features an incomplete production image, while the completed photo is included as a secondary image. When we were approached, the delivery time was very short at just over two weeks, and there was an inquiry about whether it could be manufactured using only the 3D data. However, I communicated that based on the 3D data, it would be difficult to manufacture without 2D drawings at the welding stage, as the mounting positions (dimensions) of the parts were unclear. We then created a manufacturing program based on the completed 3D model data, and later confirmed the manufacturing quantities and checked for any deficiencies in the manufacturing data or omissions in the production layout using 2D drawings and a parts list before proceeding with the manufacturing allocation.

This case involves a frame used for inspection and measurement equipment. It is a fabricated product made from 19 pieces of 40×40×2.3t square pipes in four types, three pieces of angles in two types, and nine plates of thick steel measuring 12t, 16t, 22t, and 25t, as well as nine plates of thin steel measuring 2.3t and 3.2t. Although it appears to be a simple fabricated frame in terms of size and shape, the challenge of this product was that three tapped holes were machined on the inner measuring surface of the thick plate attached to the top surface of the frame.

As a feature, the size of the completed product when assembled is 5,000mm. It consists of two frames, one with a length of 3,800mm and the other with a length of 1,300mm. The largest welding table in Mitsuya Co., Ltd.'s factory is 5'×10' (1524×3040), so the 3,800mm frame cannot be placed on the table. Since there are many large frames requested by Mitsuya Co., Ltd., workers modify each welding table to accommodate them. Additionally, the welding tables are designed with ample space, ensuring that even if the product extends beyond the table, the safety of surrounding workers is maintained.

We would like to introduce a case study of the Octalumina 80mm thick frame single-sided installation. The Octalumina 80mm frame was introduced at a large-scale event. Since this was an outdoor event, we did not include LEDs inside and instead created it using the frame and fabric. The fabric is a rain-resistant light tarpaulin, and to prevent it from coming loose in strong winds, we attached aluminum composite panels to the back with silicone sewing. The fabric is wrinkle-free and the output quality is high. Once the large frame and fabric installation was completed, it had a powerful presence, harmonizing with the photos, buildings, and nature to create a single massive work of art. A modern effect where lighting fixtures become invisible by using backlit fabric ceilings! The shape of the aluminum frame can also be customized to create various designs through processing!

We have introduced an Octalumina 120mm thick frame to the ceiling of the event hall. The ceiling of the art museum built within the park is covered with white fabric, utilizing it as an internal lighting fixture to illuminate the entire ceiling. The walls of the hall had irregular R-shaped sections, and those parts were bent to match the curvature of the wall. The frame was used horizontally with white fabric attached to the underside for lighting. It has been beautifully and dynamically designed to harmonize with the historic museum, resulting in a highly impactful LED light box!

An event was held at the Natural History Museum where "Octalmina" was used!! The base is made using a double-sided M1901 frame with a thickness of 120mm from Octalmina. The LEDs are placed only on two sides of the long side frame. There is also a fabric design, but the presence of the LEDs enhances the overall appearance. There are two key points to note here. The first point is that part of the Octalmina is designed to be openable!! The lower Octalmina frame has casters attached, making it function like a door. My guess is that since many VIPs seem to give speeches at this venue, they likely delivered their speeches on the podium in front of the photo, and at the end, the door was opened. The second point is that animals are emerging from the fabric!! At Shimin Ironworks, we have developed a technology to process the frames (structures) of "ultra-small satellites," which are expected to see increased demand in the future, by machining from aluminum blocks. The product is named 'MBF: Monobase Frame.' While "split-type" designs are common, our MBF is a "monocoque type," making it easier to reduce weight and offering greater design flexibility. With fewer components, it leads to reduced assembly labor and improved quality stability. The aluminum monocoque structure 'MBF: Monobase Frame', handled by Shimin Iron Works, has been adopted for research by the "Kyushu University Spacecraft Dynamics Laboratory." In this laboratory, a demonstration experiment is being conducted on the technology of measuring the orbit of "space debris" from Earth through photometric observations (light curve inversion), which is a challenge in space development. Specifically, the main mission involves combining attitude orbital observation data with light curves to demonstrate dynamic estimation through optical observations. It is manufactured by machining aluminum blocks, achieving lightweight construction and high design flexibility. Additionally, it has no joints and high rigidity, making it adaptable to harsh environments. The reduced number of components also allows for a decrease in assembly labor. ■ Background of the Space Industry As the demand for space equipment increases, continuing with the traditional manufacturing method of handcrafting each unit leads to variations in assembly quality depending on the worker, making stable mass production difficult. With the emergence of "mega-constellations" that deploy numerous ultra-small satellites in low Earth orbit, it is essential to reconsider traditional manufacturing methods. Leveraging years of experience in the tile mold business, we are also challenging the space sector. A launch into space was decided in 2020.

Our company leverages its many years of experience and technology as a roof tile mold manufacturer to take on the challenge of a new field: "Ultra-Compact Aluminum Frames for Small Satellites: MBF." Existing products, which are split-type and consist of multiple aluminum parts, require measures and evaluations to prevent loosening of screws. Our "MBF" is a monolithic structure machined from block aluminum, eliminating joints, which means there is no concern about precision being affected by the skill of the operator. This allows for greater focus on the design of the satellite's internal components. Since the start of frame development in 2017, we have garnered attention from industry stakeholders, and our frames have been adopted by satellites being developed by Shizuoka University and Kyushu University.
