Hopper bucket: rubber lining processing

Rubber lining processing for the inner surface of the hopper bucket, aimed at wear resistance and product protection.

We performed rubber lining processing on the inner surface of the hopper bucket provided to us. Rubber lining was requested to protect the products being transported within the factory using a cart, and we determined the processing range for the rubber lining based on the operational use of the hopper bucket and the method of product loading. We selected "wear-resistant NR with a hardness of 60°" for the rubber material, which is used on the inner surface of barrel polishing machines that experience high loads. Since the bucket body was already painted, we removed all paint using solvents and sanders, and performed first-class surface preparation through sandblasting. If any paint film remains on the rubber lining surface, it will not initiate the vulcanization bonding reaction, leading to early peeling. After sandblasting, we proceeded with the rubber lining processing following pre-treatment such as degreasing cleaning. For the bottom inner surface, we processed 60 through-holes for drainage of wash water. This time, since the various components remaining inside the bucket are extremely small, we were requested to implement improvements to prevent issues such as component clogging at the joints of the rubber lining surface, so we adjusted the conditions to ensure there would be no hindrance to use and reflected this in the actual processing. In use, there have been no issues such as component clogging, and the rubber, which has excellent wear resistance, has withstood long-term use.

We will introduce the design of the base material suitable for fluororesin lining. This is the basic design of the base material when applying lining (thick film). Please also refer to it for coating (thin film). For the "corner sections," it is ideal to finish with a radius of at least 4R, and preferably 10R or more if possible. If the inner radius is small, increasing the film thickness will make it more susceptible to the thermal shrinkage of the fluororesin. At the "welded sections," it is necessary to weld all joints (both inside and outside). Additionally, if attaching pipes or similar, all joint areas on the coating surface must be welded as well. Unevenness in welding is not an issue as long as the weld is smooth. Please note that pinholes in the weld are not acceptable.
