Introducing cost reduction examples that allow for follow-up using resin selection and reinforcement grades according to performance!
We would like to introduce a case of "metal resinization" regarding cost reduction of parts manufactured by Kōhan Co., Ltd. in Hyogo Prefecture through resin molding.
By converting parts made of iron and aluminum into resin, we aim to achieve weight reduction and material cost compression. However, this raises concerns about the decrease in mechanical strength, reduction in heat resistance, decline in chemical resistance, and lower flame retardancy.
As an improvement proposal, we can address these issues by selecting resins according to the necessary performance of the product and using enhanced grades for heat resistance, chemical resistance, and flame retardancy.
【Case Overview】
■ Issues
- Concerns about the decrease in mechanical strength, reduction in heat resistance, decline in chemical resistance, and lower flame retardancy when aiming for cost reduction.
■ Improvement Proposal
- We can address these issues by selecting resins according to the necessary performance of the product and using enhanced grades for heat resistance, chemical resistance, and flame retardancy.
