By adding phosphorus, the copper oxide within the metal is removed, dramatically enhancing the material's potential. Generally, a higher tin content increases springiness and strength, while the addition of lead improves machinability. Phosphor bronze strips are one of the most popular materials used in electronic components. This is due to the springiness, wear resistance, and stress relaxation resistance (which makes it less prone to deformation over long periods of applied force) that phosphor bronze possesses. On the other hand, round bars and wires are valued not only for their springiness but also for their durability, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and conductivity, making them widely used over the years. Phosphor bronze round bars can be broadly categorized into general phosphor bronze and free-cutting phosphor bronze. The choice depends on the application and processing requirements.
