[Case Study] Lithium Compounds Adhering to Equipment and Piping
The liquid lithium used in the liquid metal circulation test device reacts chemically with air, forming lithium compounds that adhere to the equipment and piping, causing malfunctions.
Due to a malfunction where the liquid lithium used in the liquid metal circulation testing device within the factory reacted chemically with air and formed lithium compounds that adhered to the equipment and piping, we received a request for cleaning. We visited the site, conducted dissolution tests on the adhered substances, and considered factors such as the temperature of the cleaning water and the type of cleaning agent. We selected a method that was both safe and efficient, ensuring that safety aspects such as ventilation equipment and recovery containers were thoroughly considered during the operation. As a result, we confirmed through an endoscopic investigation that the adhered substances were completely removed, and we were able to safely hand over the equipment to the customer.
