Why is lead-free necessary now that it's too late to ask? A super basic guide to the RoHS directive!

This is a super introductory document that resolves questions you might be hesitant to ask, such as the regulated substances of the RoHS directive and why lead-free is necessary! [Includes case studies]

Our company, which manufactures metal materials from material procurement to consistent production, is currently facing the issue of the "RoHS Directive." We are offering a free booklet titled "What You Can No Longer Ask! Why is Lead-Free Necessary? Basic Edition of the RoHS Directive," which condenses the current situation and industry knowledge. What exactly is the RoHS Directive...? When is the deadline for the RoHS Directive...? I can't even explain what the problem is... I'm worried about the future of the RoHS Directive... This booklet is structured to help resolve such questions. Leveraging our strength in consistent production from material procurement to processing, we are currently selling a new lead-free material, "SI-BRASS"! If you are interested in this product, please feel free to contact us! [Contents] ■ What is the RoHS Directive? ■ Regulated substances under the RoHS2 Directive ■ Why is lead-free necessary? ■ What will happen to the RoHS Directive in the future? ■ Introduction of lead-free copper alloy material! High corrosion-resistant nickel alloy "Alloy C276"

Welding materials use copper alloy welding materials! Post-welding heat treatment is not required.

Aloy C276 (NW0276, UNS N10276) is a nickel-based alloy that exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments. By reducing carbon and silicon, it suppresses the precipitation in the heat-affected zone and enhances corrosion resistance, making it widely used in materials for harsh environments such as chemical plants. Welding can be performed using standard welding methods similar to those for stainless steel, and welding materials should use nickel-based welding materials. 【Features】 ■ Strength at high temperatures is significantly higher than that of SUS 304 ■ Cold workability is almost equivalent to standard austenitic stainless steels such as SUS 304 and 316 ■ Solution heat treatment temperature is 1150–1170°C, and rapid cooling is required after heat treatment ■ Welding can be performed using standard welding methods similar to those for stainless steel ■ Pickling uses a mixed acid of nitric and hydrofluoric acid *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Heat-resistant nickel alloy "Alloy 600"

The oxidation resistance at high temperatures is extremely good! It can be used for long-term continuous air oxidation and in various atmospheres.

"Aloy 600 (NCF600, UNS N06600)" is a high-grade heat-resistant alloy that contains 14-17% chromium and exhibits exceptional oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It also has a wide range of applications as a corrosion-resistant alloy with excellent resistance to various acids and alkalis. The heating temperature is 1150-1180°C, the hot working temperature is 1000-1180°C, and light processing is possible up to 850°C; however, cracking may occur in the temperature range of 650-850°C. Cold workability is easier than that of austenitic stainless steel and is similar to Monel. [Features] ■ Hot working is relatively easy ■ Welding can be performed using TIG, MIG, and covered arc welding, similar to standard austenitic stainless steel ■ Cutting is possible with high-speed steel tools ■ Excellent resistance to nitrogen, hydrogen, and carburizing *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

What is carbide? The "processing risks" and the options that emerged during the in-house study session.

Knowledge reduces risks and increases options—lessons learned from carbide.

"What is Chokou?" - This simple question prompted us to hold a study session on cemented carbide within Bandai. We shared information on material properties such as hardness and ductility, processing risks, the challenges of tool selection, and even examples of how we have addressed these issues in our company. What I felt again during this session is that correctly understanding the properties of materials directly reduces the risk of failure during processing and leads to better decisions regarding optimal manufacturing methods. For example, in a previous order for a cemented carbide product, we assumed that "adhesion is impossible" and manufactured everything in cemented carbide, only to later learn about an alternative called "cemented carbide thermal spraying." If we had known the options from the beginning, it might have led to reduced costs and processing risks - it was an eye-opening experience. Next time, I will provide a detailed introduction to the actual case of "cemented carbide thermal spraying." *Such initiatives are just a small part of what Bandai does every day. Please take a look at the value we can offer to our customers.

[Technology Introduction] Casting Technology

Mixing different metals and materials to produce aluminum alloys! Introducing casting technology.

We would like to introduce our "Casting Technology." We charge aluminum ingots (raw metal) into a melting furnace, mix different metals and materials, and produce aluminum alloys. The melted aluminum is poured into cylindrical molds to create billets for extrusion processing. A billet is a block of aluminum necessary for manufacturing aluminum extrusions. 【Billet Process】 ■ Melting ■ Casting ■ Billet *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Sintered alloy (powder metallurgy) products process (mold - forming - sintering)

I will provide a detailed explanation of the overview of molds, molding, and sintering!

The molds are made of hard metals (such as carbide, SKD, etc.). They are primarily composed of a die, upper and lower punches, and a core. For multi-stage or complex shapes, additional molds may be required, and devices that perform auxiliary operations connected to the molding press will be necessary. The raw powder is filled into the mold set in the molding press, and pressure is applied from above and below to compact it, after which it is removed from the mold. The sintering time is generally around 7 hours. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Titanium sheet for preventing damage from acid rain.

The titanium sheet will protect your home from collapse and damage caused by acid rain for a semi-permanent period!

The "titanium sheet" is a product that can also prevent damage from acid rain. When we conducted experiments on acid resistance using titanium, iron, aluminum, and stainless steel within the company, only titanium showed no changes at all. By applying it particularly in areas prone to leaks, it effectively protects your home. It can be installed in places such as the balcony handrail wall and within the rain guard (between the wall and the roof). [Installation Examples] ■ Balcony handrail wall ■ Inside the rain guard (between the wall and the roof) ■ Inside the exterior wall *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
