[Case Study] Treatment of Nitrate Nitrogen

By conducting the fluid test, we are now able to propose suitable processing equipment to our customers!

We would like to introduce a case of the installation of a removal device for nitrate nitrogen contained in wastewater from metal finishing processes. The customer was concerned that "the concentration of nitrate nitrogen in the cleaning wastewater of zinc phosphate coated products is high and needs to be reduced." In response, Muromachi Chemical first conducted water sampling at the customer's site, analyzed the wastewater components in the lab, and then performed a flow test using ion exchange resin with the sampled wastewater to confirm the removal performance of nitrate nitrogen. By conducting the flow test, we were able to propose a suitable treatment device for the customer. 【Overview】 ■ Industry: Metal Finishing ■ Area: Kanto ■ Source Water Type: Cleaning wastewater from zinc phosphate coated products ■ Treatment Capacity: 1m3/h ■ Key Technology: Anion exchange resin *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Wastewater Treatment Using Chelating Resin

We will introduce a case where the objective was achieved without making significant modifications to the user's existing equipment!

We would like to introduce a case where manganese (Mn) in wastewater from a business was reduced to below the discharge standard using chelating resin for wastewater treatment. The company is engaged in industrial waste disposal and has already installed and is operating coagulation and sedimentation equipment; however, during certain seasons, the Mn concentration exceeded the discharge standard. The cause was identified as seasonal fluctuations in the industrial water used by the business, and improvements to the existing equipment or the addition of new equipment were being considered to resolve the issue. Generally, methods proposed by other companies are common, but due to the low treatment volume and the minimal presence of heavy metals other than Mn, a method using chelating resin was implemented. 【Overview】 ■Industry: Industrial waste disposal ■Area: Kanto region ■Source water type: Effluent from existing wastewater treatment equipment ■Treatment volume: 1m3/h ■Main technology: Chelating resin *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Elevated Bridge Cation Exchange Resin "Muromac UL Series"

Significantly reduces the leaching of high molecular weight organic substances. Suitable for pure water production systems and condensate desalination systems that require high water quality. Samples are available.

The "Muromac UL Series" is a cation exchange resin that enhances crosslinking to achieve high oxidation resistance and significantly reduces the leaching of organic substances. It has a large exchange capacity, which increases the amount of water that can be collected, reduces the frequency of regeneration treatment, and contributes to the longevity of the ion exchange resin. It is suitable for applications that require high water quality, such as pure water production systems and condensate desalination systems. There are standard grades and high-grade products that further reduce leaching. [Examples of Applications] ■ Condensate desalination systems for thermal power plants and nuclear power plants ■ Pure water production systems for boiler feed water ■ Final stage polishers for ultra-pure water production systems, such as those used in semiconductor manufacturing ■ Pure water systems that use ozone, hydrogen peroxide, or ultraviolet irradiation equipment ■ Metal removal from liquids containing oxidizing substances ★ Resin samples are currently being offered. Please feel free to contact us. You can view product catalogs and water treatment glossaries from the "PDF Download" section.

[Technical Column] Deterioration of Ion Exchange Resins

There are various phenomena of "poor performance" in devices that use ion exchange resins!

Ion exchange resins are used in a wide range of applications, such as the production of pure water and the recovery of metals. In normal usage environments, they can be used for over a year while performing regeneration operations with chemicals as needed. However, as they are used, various performance aspects of the ion exchange resins deteriorate, necessitating replacement. In this column, we will introduce an example of the factors that lead to the decline in performance of ion exchange resins, such as "decreased reaction speed" and "physical degradation." [Overview] ■ Insufficient ion exchange capacity ■ Decreased reaction speed ■ Physical degradation *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. For more information, feel free to contact us.

[Technical Column] Physical Strength of Ion Exchange Resins

Methods for measuring physical strength commonly include three aspects: compressive strength, appearance, and sphericity!

Ion exchange resins are widely used in the production of pure water and wastewater treatment. They are plastic spheres with a diameter of about 0.7 mm, strong and stable objects that do not easily break even when pressed with a finger. Typically, they can be used for several years, but just as blue sheets and PVC pipes deteriorate, ion exchange resins also gradually degrade with age. This column explains topics such as "methods for evaluating physical strength" and "accelerated aging tests" using diagrams. When used for long periods, it is advisable to regularly sample and check the physical properties. [Overview] ■ Importance of physical strength ■ Methods for evaluating physical strength ■ Accelerated aging tests *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. For more information, feel free to contact us.

[Technical Column] Ion Exchange Capacity

Explanation of preprocessing, sampling, and measurement procedures! The exchange capacity varies depending on the type of ion exchange resin.

An important item for evaluating the performance of ion exchange resins is "ion exchange capacity." The ion exchange capacity of standard cation exchange resins is about 2 equivalents per liter. The amount that can be adsorbed varies by element; for sodium ions, it is 46g per liter of cation exchange resin, for magnesium ions, it is 24g, and for cesium ions, it is 266g. In this column, we introduce topics such as "the relationship between the types of ion exchange resins and their exchange capacity" and "the measurement procedures for ion exchange capacity." [Overview] ■ Overview of ion exchange capacity ■ Pre-treatment of ion exchange capacity ■ Collection of ion exchange capacity ■ Measurement procedures for ion exchange capacity ■ Measurement of continuous flow exchange capacity *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. For more information, feel free to contact us.

What are plastic raw materials?

Introduction to the "plastic raw materials" primarily handled by Daikyo Chemical.

We would like to introduce the "plastic raw materials" primarily handled by Daikyo Chemical Co., Ltd. Naphtha, which is derived from the distillation and refining of crude oil, the main raw material for plastics, is further decomposed and refined to produce ethylene and propylene, which are then chemically reacted to produce substances such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). The general term for these products (polymers) is plastics. The "plastic raw materials" we handle include general-purpose resins such as low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and polypropylene (PP), as well as functional resins such as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), polyamide (PA, also known as nylon), and ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH). 【Plastic Raw Materials】 ■ Polyethylene (PE) ■ Polypropylene (PP) ■ Elastomers (TPE, etc.) ■ Fluororesins (ETFE, etc.) *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
