[Case Study] Die Casting: Ryobi Limited

The savior of the manufacturing site! By conducting simulations, defects are eliminated and the mental burden on the site is reduced.

At Ryobi Limited's Die Casting Division, Hiroshima Plant, the introduction of 3D CAD in the late 1990s prompted the promotion of direct engraving from modeling to molds. Initially, there were frequent machine and tool interferences due to modeling surface defects and CAM bugs causing path omissions. Due to reasons such as "high repair costs if the machine's spindle breaks" and "inability to meet scheduled production if functionality stops," we considered improvements and introduced our 'Vericut.' We have made it mandatory to simulate all NC data created and output by 3D CAD/CAM and incorporated it into the work procedures. As a result, we have achieved dramatic effects, eliminating any issues related to CAD/CAM. [Overview] ■ Issues - High repair costs if the machine's spindle breaks, and inability to meet scheduled production if functionality stops. ■ Results - Achieved dramatic effects, eliminating any issues related to CAD/CAM. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Malsugo G-Code Simulation Software "NC2Check"

Protect tools and machine tools from collision accidents! We will explain the amazing features of the G-code simulation software "NC2Check"!

Marsugo is a document that picks up the functions and features of various products and introduces the "amazing!" aspects. This time, we will introduce the G-code simulation software "NC2Check." When processing complex shapes or using special jigs and clamps, there is a possibility of damaging the machine due to collisions or interference, making the verification process before actual machining a very important step. However, since the structure and operation differ depending on the machine, some may think, "I'm worried about the verification included with CAM..." or "Pre-verification on the actual machine takes time..." That's why we are introducing the simulation software "NC2Check," which adds on to Mastercam. It can simulate machine-specific operations that cannot be expressed in the simulation included with CAM, as it is based on the G-code calculated through post-processing, allowing for complete verification offline. The document provides detailed information about the simulation mechanism and usage procedures, so please take a look. *You can download the document using the button below.

[Example] Lightweight design of rotating parts considering rigidity and manufacturing requirements.

Introducing the lightweight design of rotating components while maintaining rigidity in their initial shape, taking into account various manufacturing requirements!

For rotating components such as wheels, advanced design is required that takes into account not only mechanical properties like rigidity, strength, and vibration characteristics, but also various manufacturing requirements and aesthetic considerations. Here, we present a case study of a motorcycle road wheel that was designed with manufacturing requirements in mind to achieve weight reduction. We established a Multi-Point Constraint (MPC) to maintain rotational symmetry while considering manufacturing requirements such as "the overall shape must be moldable" and "must have a certain minimum wall thickness." First, we created an initial model that is one-third periodic symmetric using rotational copying. Then, we added load and constraint conditions, outputting the data as Nastran data, and subsequently created and added the MPC for maintaining rotational symmetry using the post-processor TS Studio. As a result, we achieved approximately an 11% weight reduction while maintaining a rotationally symmetric shape. [Case Summary] ■ Analysis Model: Road Wheel ■ Result: Achieved approximately 11% weight reduction *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
