Self-fluxing alloy thermal spray material

The materials that can be sprayed by NCI are not limited to ceramics.

The materials that can be thermally sprayed by NCI are not limited to ceramics. For example, self-fluxing alloys. These are nickel or cobalt-based alloys containing more than 1.5% boron and silicon, which are re-melted in an atmosphere of about 1100°C after being thermally sprayed to create an alloy layer that forms a dense, pore-free coating that adheres to the base material. They are characterized by excellent wear resistance. For more details, please download the catalog.

[Construction Example] Alumina Thermal Spraying on Induction Heated Cu Coil

The insulation spraying on the induction heating coil significantly improves maintainability and durability.

We would like to introduce a case where alumina thermal spraying was applied to induction heating type Cu coils. The customer faced a challenge where the glass tape and varnish required regular maintenance to prevent insulation failure due to their degradation from radiant heat. As a result, by performing alumina thermal spraying, the frequency of rewinding was reduced. Additionally, the improved maintainability led to increased productivity and cost reduction. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenge - Due to degradation and burning of the glass tape and varnish from radiant heat, maintainability was poor. ■Result - The frequency of rewinding was reduced by performing alumina thermal spraying. - Improved maintainability led to increased productivity and cost reduction. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Construction Example] SUS thermal spraying on the bearing part, ceramic thermal spraying on the seal part.

By adopting thermal spraying on the contact surface of the lip seal of rotating machinery components, the lifespan of the parts is increased!

We would like to introduce a case where worn parts were entrusted to us, and SUS thermal spraying was performed on the bearing section, while ceramic thermal spraying was done on the seal section. The customer faced the challenge of having to stop the equipment and replace parts due to wear on the sealing surfaces and bearing sections, and purchasing from the manufacturer resulted in high costs for individual parts. After performing thermal spraying and having the parts assembled and operated, we found that compared to solid metal parts, wear was reduced and the frequency of replacements decreased. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenges - The need to stop the equipment and replace parts due to wear, with high costs for individual parts when purchased from the manufacturer. ■Results - Wear was reduced compared to solid metal parts, and the frequency of replacements decreased. - Costs were lower than purchasing from the manufacturer. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Osaka Fuji Industrial's thermal spraying technology: water plasma spraying

The thermal spraying technology of Osaka Fuji Industries, active in a wide range of industrial sectors.

The mechanism of this device is designed so that the high-pressure water flow supplied to the torch creates a cylindrical over-water flow inside. In this state, when a voltage is applied between the carbon cathode and the iron rotating anode, a direct current arc is forcibly generated, causing the water on the inner surface of the over-water flow to evaporate and become plasma after decomposition, continuously generating a plasma arc. This plasma arc is constricted by the swirling cylindrical water flow, increasing energy density, and due to the rapid thermal expansion of the plasma, a stable plasma jet flame at high temperature and high speed is ejected from the nozzle. The maximum temperature of the plasma jet flame can reach approximately 30,000°C, making it easy to spray even high-melting-point ceramics. ● For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Osaka Fuji Industrial's thermal spraying technology - Gas Plasma Spraying

The thermal spraying technology of Osaka Fuji Industrial, active in a wide range of industrial fields.

In an operating gas such as argon or helium, a voltage is applied between a tungsten cathode and a copper nozzle anode, generating a direct current arc that dissociates and ionizes the operating gas, continuously producing a plasma arc. This is then constricted by a cooled nozzle, ejecting a high-temperature, high-speed jet of over 15,000°C. By feeding powder into the plasma jet and accelerating it while melting, it is possible to spray high melting point materials such as ceramics. Furthermore, the plasma jet stream can blow molten particles onto the material at high speed, allowing for the formation of high-quality spray coatings compared to other spraying methods, and there is a wide variety of spray materials available. ● For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Osaka Fuji Industrial's thermal spraying technology: frame thermal spraying (wire spray, rod spray)

The thermal spraying technology of Osaka Fuji Industries, active in a wide range of industrial fields.

Since it is low-temperature thermal spraying, the sprayed material does not undergo any alteration. Thermal spraying of ceramics is possible in rod and tube shapes. Compared to arc spraying, it achieves a finer surface roughness and a high-hardness coating. Additionally, there is less loss of chromium and carbon. As a key player in on-site thermal spraying, we have numerous achievements in anti-corrosion spraying with materials such as aluminum and zinc. ● For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Application areas of thermal spraying: Power generation sector

It enhances resistance to high-temperature corrosion and erosion wear of furnace components!

In the field of power generation, thermal spray coatings are applied as a countermeasure against damage to furnace evaporator tubes in commercial power generation facilities. The forms of damage vary depending on the fuel and the atmosphere inside the furnace, and the factors can be broadly categorized into two types: high corrosion and erosion wear. 【Overview】 <Construction> ■ Depending on the shape and area of the products to be treated, automatic thermal spraying by robots in our factory or manual thermal spraying on-site is carried out. <Thermal Spray Repair> ■ For areas where damage has progressed since the start of operations, localized repair thermal spraying is also performed. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Finding suitable thermal spraying to solve your concerns: Increased hardness

Forming a film of ceramic or cermet on the surface of metal to enhance durability!

In general, metals are inferior to ceramics in terms of hardness. However, even when a very hard substrate is required, there are cases where ceramic molded products cannot be made or where ceramics cannot be used due to cost considerations. In such cases, surface modification through thermal spraying is effective. By forming a hard ceramic or cermet coating on the surface of the substrate, it can be made harder than the original hardness of the substrate, ensuring durability and other properties. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
