Poka-yoke tool

This is a group of IoT tools that support the prevention of operator mistakes (poka-yoke) in production processes such as assembly, processing, and pressing, where high quality is required. By combining our wireless devices for poka-yoke (transmitters and receivers), they can be used as tools such as poka-yoke compatible torque wrenches, plier wrenches, check pens (marking pens), electric tools, electric screwdrivers, riveters, grease guns, inspection stamps, and binding tools. Poka-yoke tools are utilized in a wide range of industries, including automotive, automotive parts, motorcycles, air conditioning, and building materials, both domestically and internationally, and we have a wealth of implementation experience, so you can use them with confidence.

[Pokayoke Example] Prevention of forgetting to insert the E-ring

Realizing prevention of forgetting to insert the E-ring.

We received a request from a multifunction printer unit manufacturer stating, "In order to implement poka-yoke in the assembly process of the paper feeding device (tray module) of the multifunction printer, we are currently judging work omissions based on the weight of screws and bolts, which are 'the necessary weight for fastening.' However, the E-ring (E-type retaining ring) is too light, making it difficult to judge by weight. We would like to implement poka-yoke for the E-ring insertion process (to prevent forgetting to insert it) using a different method." In response to the request to attach our poka-yoke transmitter to the E-ring holder (the tool used for inserting E-rings) that the customer is currently using, we have made the following design considerations, taking into account that "the shape of the E-ring holder varies according to the size of the E-ring being handled." [Details] (1) By changing the "pipe section" to match the shape of the E-ring holder, it can accommodate different E-rings. (2) The spring inside the "pipe section" can be easily replaced according to the force applied to the E-ring. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Pokayoke Example] Prevention of Forgetting to Tighten Screws with Torque Driver

Achieving prevention of forgetting to tighten screws with a torque driver.

We received a request from a building materials manufacturer stating, "We would like to implement counting management (poka-yoke) for screw fastening operations not only with Makita-style cordless screwdrivers but also with manual torque drivers in our production process." In response to our customer's request, we collaborated with a torque driver manufacturer to equip the torque driver with our poka-yoke transmitter, enabling it to send a signal when screws are fastened with the torque driver. [Details] (1) The transmitter was modified to accurately detect the completion of fastening with the torque driver. (2) The existing poka-yoke receiver already installed on the customer's production line was utilized as is. As a result, it has become possible to introduce counting management (poka-yoke) for torque drivers on-site in a short period. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Poka-Yoke Example] Poka-Yoke for Inspection Confirmation in Packaging Operations

Achieving prevention of forgetting inspection confirmation in packaging work.

We received a request from an automotive parts manufacturer stating, "In the process of packing products into boxes, we stamp inspection confirmation marks on the products during packaging, and we would like to implement a mistake-proofing system to prevent forgetting to stamp the inspection confirmation marks." This mistake-proofing system consists of a rotary stamp (a stamp that prints with a reversed surface), a simple mistake-proofing counter TW-800R-SCL, and a switch box for Work-Select. The system is designed so that "every time the rotary stamp stamps the inspection confirmation mark on the product, it wirelessly transmits to the TW-800R-SCL to confirm whether the required number of inspection confirmation marks for packaging has been stamped." To realize this mistake-proofing system, we made the following innovations: [Details] (1) The required number of stamps for each packaging box can be switched using the Work-Select switch box. (2) Wireless transmission occurs when the rotary stamp is pressed onto the product. (3) The Work-Select switch box that can be connected to the TW-800R-SC is repurposed. (4) The mechanism of the check pen S is repurposed to attach the transmission function to the rotary stamp. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Poka-Yoke Example] Prevention of Wax Injection Forgetting

Prevention of forgetting to inject wax (rust inhibitor) from spray cans.

We received a request from an automobile manufacturer stating, "We would like to implement a mistake-proofing system to prevent forgetting to inject wax (rust inhibitor) using spray cans during the vehicle body assembly process." By attaching a commercially available spray handle (a gun-like tool that sprays when the handle is squeezed) to the spray can used by the customer for injecting wax (rust inhibitor), and combining the spray handle with our mistake-proofing transmitter, we have established a system that counts when the spray handle is squeezed. [Mechanical Design] (1) It can be attached without modifying the spray handle itself. (2) It does not compromise the usability of the spraying operation. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Poka-Yoke Example] Poka-Yoke for Visual Inspection in the Inspection Process

Achieving prevention of forgetting visual checks in the inspection process.

We received a request from an automobile manufacturer stating, "We would like to implement a visual inspection process for automotive glass marks to prevent oversight by operators (poka-yoke)." To ensure that the visual check of the glass marks is reliably conducted, we developed a system that "wirelessly transmits work performance when the glass mark is checked with a pen that does not leave ink (when it comes into contact with the glass)." In developing this system, we utilized the mechanism of the Check Pen S while ensuring compatibility with the TW-800 series receivers already in use at the customer's production site, incorporating the following technical innovations: [Details] (1) We will create a dedicated pen that does not leave ink. The tip of the pen will be made of a soft material to prevent scratching the glass upon contact. (2) The dedicated pen will be stored in the pipe of the Check Pen S, and a cap will be added to protect the tip of the dedicated pen. (3) To facilitate the visual inspection work for the operators, the structure will allow the Check Pen S to be suspended from the operator's neck. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Poka-Yoke Example] Prevention of Forgetting to Calibrate Tools

Achieving prevention of forgetting to calibrate tools.

In the assembly process, an automobile manufacturer that implements measures to prevent omissions in fastening work using tools such as torque wrenches and torque spanners has requested, "We would like to create a system to notify us of calibration timing to prevent forgetting to calibrate our tools." To meet the customer's request in a cost-effective and timely manner, we utilized our existing poka-yoke tools and connected a work count display device that manages calibration timing to the poka-yoke receiver. This created a system that allows us to determine whether the number of fastening operations of the tools has reached the required calibration count. The work count display device significantly reduced development time and costs by customizing the compact production management display device SD-4. This device requires the following features: [Details] (1) The number of times requiring calibration (limit count) can be set up to a maximum of 99,999,999 times. (2) If the fastening count (actual count) is below the limit count, the count data is output to the customer's PLC. (3) If the fastening count (actual count) reaches the limit count, the output to the customer's PLC is stopped. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Poka-Yoke Example] Prevention of Forgetting to Tighten Screws with Electric Screwdrivers

Realizing prevention of forgetting to tighten screws with an electric driver.

A proposal for improvement has been made regarding the production of our factory's wireless Andon system, "Wireless Call Device," stating, "After tightening screws at 30 locations with an electric driver, we check the number of screws tightened in the next process to prevent any omissions in the tightening work (poka-yoke). We would like to reduce this checking process." We have developed a mechanism that attaches a newly developed poka-yoke transmitter to the Nitto Kohki electric driver "Delvo," which is currently used in our production process, allowing it to "wirelessly transmit a torque-up signal from the electric driver when screws are tightened." 【Design Requirements】 (1) It should be retrofittable without modifying the electric driver "Delvo." (2) It should not impair the operability of the electric driver. (3) Battery replacement should be possible without removing the transmitter. The "omission prevention (poka-yoke) for tightening work using an electric driver" has received requests from electronic equipment manufacturers, automotive parts manufacturers, building materials manufacturers, and others, and its application in various manufacturing sites is anticipated. * "Delvo" is a registered trademark of Nitto Kohki Co., Ltd. * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Labor Safety Measures Case] Compliance with Labor Safety in Welding Operations Using Robots

A customized case where the robot stops when the chin strap of the supervisor's or worker's helmet comes undone.

We received a request from a transportation equipment manufacturer to create a system that meets the following two objectives for ensuring labor safety compliance in robot welding operations: (1) Establishing a mechanism to prevent unsafe actions (emergency stop) through a two-person operation involving a supervisor (outside the robot operating area) and an operator (inside the robot operating area). (2) Creating a system that prohibits the robot's teaching operation if the operator is not wearing a helmet correctly. 【Details】 - By connecting the signals from helmet-wearing sensors attached to the chin straps of the helmets worn by the supervisor and operator to the poka-yoke receiver TW-800R-EXS, we can achieve a system where "if the operator is not wearing the helmet correctly, the robot will automatically stop" and "if the supervisor determines it to be unsafe, they can remove the chin strap of the helmet to emergency stop the robot." - After the chin strap of the supervisor's and operator's helmets is removed, we will repeatedly customize the software of the helmet-wearing sensor ENS-HH01 and conduct practical verification to ensure the robot stops appropriately within the correct time frame. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
