[Case Study] Recycling of Resin Coated Products

We would like to introduce a case where our recycling system has contributed to environmental measures. Since the resin and metal in resin-coated products are strongly bonded, they cannot be easily separated. While the metal film can be dissolved using chemicals, there are concerns about resin degradation and chemical residues, leaving challenges for recycling. Therefore, we propose our recycling system, which micro-grinds resin-coated products and separates them into resin and metal components using magnetic force, making each reusable. By recycling resin-coated products that could only be disposed of as industrial waste, we have contributed to environmental measures. Therefore, we proposed our "Light Platinum Satin TI," which can express the texture of iron through a slight matte finish and a hint of black. [Case Study] Noise Prevention through Two-Color Molding and Plating Products

A case where the noise caused by vibrations was eliminated, contributing to the creation of a comfortable environment inside the vehicle.

We would like to introduce a case where our two-color molding technology and plating technology for two-color molded products have made it possible to prevent noise. A rubbing sound was generated from the area where the plated parts and ABS resin molded parts were combined due to vibrations from the automobile. As a countermeasure, masking agents were applied and felt was attached, but this resulted in a significant amount of labor. [Case Study] Trivalent Chromium Plating Resistant to Deicing Salt in Cold Regions

The key point is our ability to use trivalent chromium plating baths for mass production with the necessary equipment and management capabilities!

We would like to introduce a case where a trivalent chromium plating that can withstand de-icing salt in cold regions was proposed. In cold regions, de-icing salt is spread on roads, and if it remains on the surface of plated products for an extended period, the plating film corrodes. Therefore, a resin plating that can withstand de-icing salt was considered. The chromium film created from a standard hexavalent chromium plating bath has low calcium chloride resistance, and corrosion progresses in environments where large amounts of de-icing salt are used. Thus, we proposed a plating using a trivalent chromium plating bath with high calcium chloride resistance. To make the appearance closer to standard glossy chrome, we developed a new trivalent chromium (silver). At that time, European flagship cars were beginning to adopt a beautiful appearance resembling machined aluminum, and we would like to introduce a case where this issue was resolved with resin plating. At that time, there were only completely matte platings available in Japan that did not reflect images, and there was no company with a proven track record of mass production using those chemicals. Therefore, at our new process development department, we were researching this chemical and developing a unique plating expression by combining it with other processes. We proposed a plating color with a distinctive aluminum appearance. A resin-plated product with a unique luster specific to the manufacturer was adopted, contributing to the enhancement of the interior quality of the automobile. [Case Study] Improvement of Cold and Heat Repetition Resistance of Resin-Plated Products with a Bias Toward Meat

Due to having a consistent production system (molds, molding, plating processing), it is possible to consider and implement total solutions.

We would like to introduce a case where we solved the issue by improving the cold and heat cycle resistance of thick-walled resin plating products. The problem was that decorative chrome plating was applied to PC+ABS, but the coefficients of thermal expansion of the metals that make up the decorative chrome plating—copper, nickel, and chromium—are significantly smaller compared to PC+ABS. As a result, the plating film could not withstand the stress when temperature was applied, leading to the occurrence of cracks. We proposed improving the shape of the stress concentration points. As a result, the cold and heat cycle resistance was enhanced, allowing us to mass-produce and deliver high-quality products, thereby ensuring safety in the market and gaining trust from our customers.
