The vortex gasket is an essential sealing component for the joints of piping flanges used under harsh conditions such as high temperature and high pressure, due to its excellent sealing performance and durability. The vortex gasket (spiral gasket) is made by alternately winding a thin metal strip (hoop) with a V-shaped cross-section and a soft non-metallic material (filler) that has cushioning and sealing properties. Regarding its structure and features, the metal hoop serves as the framework, providing strength and resilience to the gasket. An asbestos joint sheet is a type of sheet-like gasket used at the flange of piping and the joints of equipment. As the main raw material, asbestos, which has excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, and strength, was used. Natural rubber or synthetic rubber is added as a binder. This creates flexibility and sealing properties. Chemicals and fillers are mixed in to enhance other performance characteristics. Manufacturing and use are generally prohibited.
