Fine bubbles (microbubbles and ultrafine bubbles) refer to

"What is the difference between fine bubbles and microbubbles?" We explain the differences! We also summarize the characteristics of microbubbles. *Materials available upon request.

"Fine bubbles" is a general term for microbubbles and ultrafine bubbles (nano-sized bubbles), referring to bubbles with a diameter of less than 0.1 mm. Microbubbles appear more like "white turbidity" than "bubbles" to the naked eye, and their concentration is determined by the amount of gas dissolved in the water. Ultrafine bubbles are not visible to the naked eye, but can be confirmed by shining a laser beam on them. They drift in the water without rising to the surface. 【Characteristics of Microbubbles】 - The peak diameter of microbubbles is several tens of micrometers (varies depending on the generation method and conditions) - Visible to the naked eye (difficult to see below 5 micrometers) - Negatively charged - Lifespan in fresh water is several minutes to several tens of minutes - Enhances gas dissolution - Rise and mostly burst at the water surface, escaping into the atmosphere *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Custom nozzle with a small flow rate of 500 mL/min

Manufactured a 500mL/min nozzle! Adjusted to increase vacuum level, resulting in an increase in bubble generation.

We would like to introduce a case study using the '500mL/min small custom nozzle' from OK Engineering Co., Ltd. In July 2011, at a water pressure of 0.15MPa, the discharge rate was 410mL/min, and the vacuum level was approximately -0.03MPa under normal settings. A 500mL/min nozzle was manufactured, and adjustments were made to increase the vacuum level at the nozzle agitation section to -0.09MPa when the water pressure was 0.25MPa, resulting in a slight increase in bubble generation. Currently, we are ensuring that the vacuum level of the nozzle exceeds -0.05MPa at a water pressure of 0.15MPa. [Case Summary] <July 2011> ■ A 500mL/min nozzle was manufactured. ■ Since the generation amount is low, it is necessary to increase the vacuum level if required. ■ Adjusted to increase the vacuum level to -0.09MPa at a water pressure of 0.25MPa. ■ There was a slight increase in bubble generation. *For more detailed information about the case, please refer to the related links. [Case Study] China Experiments with Fine Bubbles for Pig Farm Waste Treatment

Using the 500L OK nozzle! A case where many fundamental aspects of pig manure and urine treatment technology were understood.

Initially, the purpose of purchasing the OK nozzle was for the treatment of domestic wastewater, so a single φ16 self-priming hose was used. However, the actual experiment involved the treatment of pig manure, and it was being investigated how much processing capacity could be achieved with the "500L OK nozzle" to generate fine bubbles and whether it could meet the standard values. At the time of installation, it was noted that the NH3 levels did not reach the standard values, and inquiries were made regarding countermeasures. Through several email exchanges involving an interpreter, the current situation was somewhat understood, so measures were proposed to ensure that ammonia levels fell within the standard values. Experimental methods were suggested, and solutions were clearly outlined. Based on these instructions, some improvements were made, but only insufficient interim data was obtained, and after being informed that "there was a prospect of clearing the standard values," the final data was not sent. However, many fundamental aspects of pig manure treatment technology were understood from this experiment, so it was decided to compile the results, including the progress of this experiment. *For detailed information about the case, please refer to the related links. [Case] New release of loop flow OK nozzle for draft beer.

Fine bubbles rise for a long time! A case of the server's self-cleaning ability and the beer becoming smoother.

The "fine bubble generation nozzle for draft beer" was developed over three years starting in 2014 with the support of the national "monozukuri subsidy." The goal was to enable self-cleaning of draft beer servers, but it was discovered as a byproduct that the draft beer became "mellow." It is hypothesized that this is due to ultra-fine bubbles (nanobubbles). Additionally, we requested an investigation from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology to understand why draft beer with fine bubbles becomes "mellow." They conducted comparisons of floating Pocky, foam generation with Mentos, and analyses using an electron microscope. *For detailed information on the case, please refer to the related links. [Application Example] Coverage of measures against clams in Lake Shinji.

An example of application where the collaboration of fine bubbles and jet injectors is believed to have been effective.

As a measure against the clams in Lake Shinji, we would like to introduce an application example using the "100L・500L/min OK nozzle." After fishing, we took turns with fellow fishermen to aerate the lake bottom for two hours every day using a jet sprayer to inject fine bubbles. It is believed that the collaboration of fine bubbles and the jet sprayer has been effective. [Overview] ■ In July 2012, the "100L OK nozzle" was introduced. ■ Approximately one year later, clam catch increased. ■ In August 2014, the "500L" was introduced by the Shinji Lake Fisheries Cooperative. *For more detailed information about this case, please refer to the related links. [Case] Purification experiment of salmon farming at 60m depth in the Magellan Strait, Chile.

In the experiment, we are using a "400L/min OK nozzle" to inject fine bubbles into the seabed!

As part of the Magellan Strait seabed purification experiment, we are currently conducting seabed purification experiments in the Magellan Strait of Chile, and we are seeing good results. In Chile, salmon farming has been carried out in the strait's bays for many years, leading to the accumulation of leftover feed and waste on the seabed, which has deteriorated the environment to the point where it is no longer suitable for salmon farming. The project, carried out by the responsible parties in collaboration with aquaculture operators, aims to purify the seabed so that salmon farming can be resumed. Fish farming is taking place in bays around the world, facing similar issues to those in Chile, to varying degrees. Therefore, the results of this experiment are expected to be disseminated globally. Here, we summarize the content of email exchanges regarding the experiments conducted by the responsible parties, and we also provide our own suggestions on the 300m seabed purification method. *For detailed information on the case, please refer to the related links. Patent obtained in May! Loop flow microbubble generation nozzle.

The loop flow microbubble generation nozzle has been patented!

The Loop Flow Microbubble Generation Nozzle, application number 2008-034846, was granted a patent on May 15, 2012, and the patent registration process was completed on the 21st, resulting in the acquisition of the patent. We were considering a "divisional application," but concluded that it was unnecessary, and completed the patent registration process on the 21st. It took four years from the application. No one had created a similar microbubble generation nozzle. Neither patent searches nor internet searches revealed any designs that maximized the characteristics of loop flow. In August of this year, I will present on "Characteristics and Application Examples of the Loop Flow Microbubble Generation Nozzle" at a conference of the Japan Society of Multiphase Flow at the University of Tokyo, Kashiwa Campus. Cleaning for the removal of burr contamination from automotive press parts.

Contamination removal was achieved with the same effect as ultra-mirror polishing of the wafer.

There was an inquiry regarding the removal of contamination from press-cut products. The issue was that the contamination generated during the deburring process was strongly adhered to the products, and some of it could not be removed even after passing through a cleaning device. It was mentioned that a neutral detergent was being used, so a small OK nozzle OKE-MB07FJ (20L/min) was employed. The cleaning solution containing neutral detergent in the 500L tank was initially cloudy, making it difficult to determine the generation of microbubbles. Therefore, experiments were conducted by varying the air suction volume, and the optimal suction volume for cleaning was selected, resulting in the same effect as during the ultra-polishing of wafers. In this cleaning process as well, microbubbles burst due to showering and brushing, and it seems that the destructive power of these bubbles enabled effective peeling cleaning. The method for generating microbubbles involves using a submersible pump within the 500L tank. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

Generation of microbubbles in anhydrous ethanol.

I filmed how microbubbles are generated.

I recorded a video on how microbubbles are generated in 99.5% anhydrous ethanol. I placed a glass filled with ethanol into an empty tank and generated the bubbles using a nozzle with a flow rate of 420 cc/min. The pressure was about 0.27 MPa. In the first half, the solution was a thick white turbidity, but it became thinner in the second half. It seems that there is a bit of a trick to controlling the generation of microbubbles. Since I was using an electromagnetic pump, I tried to reduce vibrations by using a silicone rubber tube, but it burst during the experiment. The video was recorded after changing to a urethane tube where the pressure was applied. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

Suction of 80% of the discharge air! OKE-MB01FJ suction measurement.

Measurement of self-priming capacity of OKE-MB01FJ (7L/min)

We will measure the self-priming volume of standard and semi-standard nozzles. Measurements will be taken in increments from 0.00 to 0.01 MPa. The experimental results yielded unexpectedly very interesting findings, revealing the existence of water pressure at which the self-priming volume becomes discontinuous. The experimental conditions were set with a water heater temperature of 43°C, utilizing tap water pressure. The self-priming inlet was fully opened using a throttle valve. A 6mm outer diameter tube of 2 meters was used, with a check valve that has a cracking pressure close to 0 in between. The measuring device for the self-priming volume was the Horiba Manufacturing Corporation Estec Digital Flow Meter SEF-51. The nozzle used was OKE-MB01FJ with a discharge capacity of 7L/min (at water pressure of 0.15 MPa). For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.
