[I-NIX Processing Case] Measures Against Whisker Formation and Improvement of Hemming Die Wear

The timing for the occurrence of beard blight has dramatically increased! We are also trying for further longevity.

We would like to introduce an improvement case of the "I-NIX treatment," which enhances wear resistance and slip resistance, and serves as a countermeasure against the peeling of processing films. In the case of standard Tai-shi products, they only function normally as hemming dies for about 100,000 punches, necessitating a large number of replacement spare parts. However, after switching to hemming dies treated with I-NIX, the lifespan dramatically increased to 250,000 punches, and further success was achieved with continuous processing of 460,000 punches through shot peening treatment (WPC treatment). We would like to introduce the achievements of "Ainix treatment," which can reduce maintenance frequency and enhance productivity. Previously, we performed nitriding treatment (Tuftride and Kanak), but cracks occurred after about 20,000 pieces. After the cracks appeared, we reused them through regrinding, but the productivity after correction was halved. After Ainix treatment, there were no cracks even after exceeding 120,000 pieces. In the 90° bending process of stainless steel plate springs, the workpiece and the bending tool surface were experiencing welding during processing, leading to frequent mold corrections. Typically, after several tens of thousands of shots, the bending tool would quickly weld, causing a rapid change in structure. However, by applying "I-NIX treatment," the occurrence of welding was significantly reduced, and no dimensional changes were observed, resulting in a successful extension of tool life. The treatment demonstrated remarkable effects, yielding excellent results. Improved lifespan compared to untreated products! Introducing the results of cutting tests for I-NIX treated drills.

At the Ibaraki Prefectural Industrial Research Institute, cutting tests were conducted using drills (SKH9) and end mills (SKH9) that were treated with I-NIX. Regarding the cutting tests, the lifespan improved by approximately 1.7 times for the Φ6.9 drill and 1.5 times for the Φ11 drill. Additionally, concerning hardness (SCM3), the surface hardness after quenching at temperatures of 750°C, 790°C, and 830°C was approximately Hv≓850, remaining almost constant; however, at 880°C, it decreased to Hv≓570. [I-NIX Processing Product Test Case] Aluminum Die Casting Mold

The polishing of the mold surface after processing is mild and, in some cases, requires almost no polishing at all!

The aluminum die-cast camera body mold fixed core (L270×W50×H75) underwent a common surface hardening method and was cast using a 250-ton die-casting machine. However, when the production reached approximately 130,000 units, severe erosion and burning phenomena due to aluminum molten metal occurred in the patron chamber and mask surface. Therefore, when we tried the "I-NIX treatment," we were able to continuously cast without issues for 7 days, and it was found to be effective for the die-casting mold as well. Furthermore, when we applied the same treatment to 2-3 other molds, similar effects were observed.
