■Multi-core POF can minimize light transmission loss when the fiber is bent by increasing the number of cores. - Transmission Loss (Guiding Loss) The light transmission characteristics of plastic optical fibers vary depending on the wavelength of light. - Weather Resistance The plastic optical fiber (POF) manufactured by Asahi Kasei Co., Ltd. is primarily composed of P-MMA resin, which has excellent weather resistance, so its initial performance rarely degrades over long periods. However, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light may cause changes such as yellowing, so please be cautious. - Flexibility Compared to electrical wires, it has excellent fracture strength against bending, but extreme bends can cause light transmission loss. Please use it within the allowable bending radius for each grade. For wiring with extreme bends, we recommend using Asahi Kasei Co., Ltd.'s "Multi-core POF," which does not experience a decrease in light intensity when bent. - Chemical Resistance Generally, exposure to organic solvents can lead to a decrease in light transmission rate or mechanical strength, so please be cautious. Asahi Kasei has developed a POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) that combines polymer technology and spinning technology cultivated through synthetic fibers. It uses highly transparent methacrylic resin as the core material and fluorine-based resin as the cladding material, manufactured with the latest technology. POF is a material expected to be used in signal transmission and image transmission applications. Plastic optical fiber consists of a core (the central part) made of a high refractive index component, surrounded by a cladding (the outer layer) made of a low refractive index component. Light entering from one end of the optical fiber is transmitted to the other end by repeatedly undergoing total internal reflection at the boundary between the core and the cladding. ● Flexibility Compared to electric wires, it has excellent fracture strength against bending, but extreme bends can cause light transmission loss. The photoelastic modulator is used to change the polarization state of light. (Transmitted light undergoes dynamic phase delay.) The light-passing part of the modulator is made of isotropic material (which does not depend on direction for its properties or distribution). Isotropic materials vibrate periodically at their inherent resonant frequency. The refractive index of optical materials changes periodically due to the photoelastic effect. Depending on the operating mode, photoelastic modulators can be categorized into two types: (one-dimensional, two-dimensional) 1: One-dimensional photoelastic modulators have only one vibration plane and are used in the ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared wavelength ranges. 2: Two-dimensional photoelastic modulators have two vibration planes and are used for larger phase modulation. The Faraday rotator outputs linearly polarized laser light that has been rotated by 45 degrees from the linearly polarized light that is incident on it.
