The production volume for Apple is expected to be more than an order of magnitude higher than before. As a result, LGD's production of flexible OLEDs is showing rapid expansion. The production of flexible displays has become more established. Analyzing the sudden rise in COF demand, it was found that the increase in 4K panels was a contributing factor. For 4K panels, twice the number of LDI units is required compared to FHD. Naturally, this means that COF is also needed in double the amount. The production of these 4K panels has finally begun to gain momentum. It is estimated that around 20 million 4K panels for TVs were produced in 2014. Due to the effects of 4K, the COF market showed significant growth in 2014. It is expected that 4K TVs will continue to expand steadily beyond 2015. In recent years, the LDI market has stagnated in terms of multi-channel development, and the increase in 4K is likely to directly lead to the expansion of COF. Prior to 2013, the COF and TAB markets showed a trend of contraction, but 2014 may have marked a significant turning point. The COF market has regained its growth momentum.
