The founder, Kenzo Takahashi, established D-Mag Co., Ltd. in 1990 after serving as a lead engineer at Mitsubishi Steel Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Japan Eliz Magnetics Co., Ltd. He is well-known as a specialist in practical applications of magnetic technology for industrial uses, having developed and commercialized numerous innovative magnetic application technologies, including non-ferrous metal sorting machines that utilize eddy currents. Currently, the method of sorting and recovering non-ferrous metals from mixtures using eddy currents has become a global de facto standard. Additionally, he has also provided key technologies for the development of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) using permanent magnets.
