Various types of sponge materials can be selected according to the application, including firmer and more durable sponge materials, as well as soft sponges with high safety.

Repairs using conventional welding methods can alter the base material around the crack due to heat, leading to residual stress and deformation, which always carries the risk of "crack recurrence" or "secondary damage."
