Due to the rapid spread of generative AI and the rising geopolitical tensions, digital infrastructure such as submarine cables, data centers, and mobile networks has become a foundation that influences economic growth and security. This lecture will explain the concepts of "ensuring autonomy" and "acquiring indispensability" in economic security, considering Japan's current digital deficit and dependence on foreign countries. Additionally, it will introduce the initiatives by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications to support Japanese companies' overseas expansion and enhance international competitiveness, including the Comprehensive Strategy for Digital Overseas Expansion 2030, overseas demonstrations, investments through public-private funds, and the FOIP Digital Corridor concept.
