[Key Lecture Content]
Since the late 2010s, the introduction of stationary batteries has become more widespread, particularly in Europe, the United States, South Korea, and China, leading to an increase in fire incidents and construction and operational troubles. In Japan, the market for grid-connected batteries has been rapidly expanding since the 2020s. Although the development of various standards and guidelines is progressing, the entry of various operators, not just those familiar with batteries, continues, necessitating careful attention in areas such as product selection, safety verification, and operational management. This time, while overviewing the role of batteries in Japan's power system, their essential value, and current issues, we will explain the correct ways to select and use batteries in the future, including how to formulate business strategies that encompass medium- to long-term business models.
