A demonstration experiment was conducted under conditions where blade edge damage is likely to occur, using cast iron (FC250). When applying the DK cryo process to drills with different specifications—cobalt high-speed steel with TiN coating and carbide with EgiAs coating—it was confirmed that both achieved over twice the lifespan compared to those without treatment. Currently, the demonstration experiment includes only one case each for carbide and high-speed steel in FC250. This may be coincidental. Nevertheless, the fact that similar results are observed despite different base materials is noteworthy as a trend. Furthermore, price revisions by various carbide tool manufacturers are also planned.
