The lifespan of guide parts is quadrupled! Wear resistance measures for packaging machines with PEEK coating.
PEEKCOAT
【Durability 3 to 4 times】 Reduces frequent parts replacement due to wear from fluoropolymer coating. With overwhelming wear resistance and slip properties, it lowers maintenance costs.
The guide components of automatic packaging machines experience significant wear due to constant high-speed friction with films and transported items, leading to major challenges such as "short-term component replacement" and "increased maintenance labor and costs associated with replacements." In the case of the customer we consulted with, they had been applying fluororesin coating to the guide components, but the issue arose that conventional fluororesin coatings have soft films that quickly reach the end of their lifespan in harsh environments. ■ Proposal for PEEK Coating "PEEKCOAT G10" Therefore, we proposed PEEKCOAT G10, which has excellent wear resistance and mechanical strength. - A high-durability sliding coating that uniformly combines fluororesin with a tough PEEK resin film. - Unlike pure fluororesin, the film does not easily wear away, maintaining a "smooth and slippery surface" for an extended period even in harsh high-speed sliding environments. ■ Implementation Effect: Compared to conventional specifications, durability is improved by 3 to 4 times. By significantly extending the component replacement cycle, we achieve both a reduction in spare parts costs and a decrease in equipment downtime associated with maintenance (improving operational efficiency), dramatically enhancing overall cost performance.

Applications/Examples of results
【Applications】 ■ Guide rails for automatic packaging machines, various transport guides, formers ■ General metal parts with high sliding frequency, where the wear and peeling of existing fluorine coatings occur quickly ■ Components for automation and high-speed production lines in food, pharmaceuticals, and daily necessities 【Examples of Achievements】 ■ Applied "PEEKCOAT G10" to guide components of automatic packaging machines in general industrial and packaging sites. ■ Before implementation: With conventional coatings, the guides wore out early, necessitating frequent parts replacement and line stoppages. ■ After implementation: The lifespan of parts was extended to 3-4 times that of conventional coatings. The dramatic extension of the parts replacement cycle reduced the labor hours of maintenance personnel and contributed to an overall increase in factory production.

Company information
Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
