Chemical-resistant and highly durable ETFE thick film coating for exhaust fans.
Fluororesin coating
【Thick film blocks gas permeation】 Achieves excellent corrosion resistance along with outstanding wear and impact resistance! Uniform construction down to the details of the blade extends the lifespan of exhaust and ventilation systems.
This is a high-performance ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) coating contract processing service for metal fans (impellers, rotor wheels, casings, and sirocco fans) that discharge corrosive gases such as acids and alkalis in exhaust and ventilation systems of various chemical plants, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, and plating treatment plants. ■ ETFE with Mechanical Strength and Chemical Resistance Fans are constantly rotating at high speeds and are subjected to harsh conditions as "driving components," exposed to contact (friction) with dust and fine particles contained in wind pressure and airflow. Therefore, this method employs ETFE, which possesses particularly excellent "mechanical strength (hardness, impact resistance, wear resistance)" and "chemical resistance" among fluororesins. It forms a uniform coating without pinholes, reaching into the intricate gaps of the fan blades and the unevenness of welding lines. ■ Thick Film Specification that Shuts Out Liquid/Gas Penetration To prevent the penetration and permeation of corrosive gases, the coating is applied in a "thick film specification (hundreds of micrometers level)" that is thicker than standard fluororesin coatings. This protects the metal substrate from gas, preventing corrosion and premature failure of the fan. It is a reliable surface treatment solution that contributes to the longevity, safety maintenance, and stable operation of equipment in harsh exhaust environments.

Applications/Examples of results
**Expected Main Uses** - Fans for exhaust gas and emission treatment equipment in chemical and pharmaceutical plants - Cleanroom exhaust fans in semiconductor and electronic component manufacturing factories - Acid and alkali exhaust systems in plating factories and metal surface treatment lines - Local exhaust devices for draft chambers in various research facilities and laboratories - Ventilation and blower fan components for coastal facilities requiring salt damage countermeasures **Implementation Effects and Examples** - Application of metal impellers for exhaust fans in chemical plants - Before implementation: In an exhaust environment containing both acidic gases and dust, conventional anti-corrosion coatings and thin fluoropolymer coatings experienced early wear and peeling. Corrosion of the substrate disrupted the rotor's rotational balance, leading to vibration issues and frequent component replacements. - After implementation: Thick ETFE coating (hundreds of micrometers) simultaneously suppressed gas permeation and wear of the coating due to dust. The lifespan of the components dramatically improved. Additionally, the non-stick effect prevented the adhesion of crystalline scale to the fan. Unbalanced vibrations were eliminated, achieving a significant reduction in downtime associated with maintenance.

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
