【Unique technology to suppress thermal distortion】 Applied to large (1-2m) metal substrates. A completely flat surface without seams or screw holes prevents scratches on the workpiece!
In laser inspection devices that perform precise measurements of LCD panels and silicon wafers, the "surface smoothness" and "high dimensional accuracy" of the metal stage that holds the workpiece directly influence measurement accuracy. In conventional hand-applied PEEK molded products, the presence of seams and screw fastening areas posed a risk of snagging and scratching the workpiece. Additionally, common coatings faced challenges with warping and distortion of the substrate due to "approximately 400°C firing heat." Our thick-film PEEK coating technology is a solution for designers that balances high precision and surface quality. 【Technical Approach】 ■ Distortion-free Construction Using our proprietary "deformation prevention fixture," we eliminate warping of the substrate caused by thermal shrinkage stress. High precision is maintained even for large substrates (1-2m). ■ Seamless Integrated Flat Surface Machining can be performed after applying a thick coating of over 1mm. A smooth flat surface is formed without screw holes or seams. ■ Scratch Prevention for Workpieces Eliminating metal exposure and unevenness reduces the risk of damage to delicate products. This technology is ideal for large precision components that require high dimensional accuracy and clean surface quality.

Applications/Examples of results
【Examples of Use】 ■ Precision Measurement and Inspection Equipment Stages for laser displacement meters, non-contact height measurement tables, stages for image inspection equipment ■ Semiconductor and FPD Manufacturing Equipment Large glass substrate transport stages, wafer chucks and transport arms ■ Scratch Prevention Jigs Assembly jigs and inspection arms for high-quality appearance parts 【Implementation Example (Large Precision Inspection Equipment Stage)】 ■ Issue Scratches occurred on delicate workpieces due to screw fastening points on the metal stage and seams in the PEEK board. Additionally, there were concerns about accuracy degradation due to thermal distortion during coating firing. ■ Countermeasure Used a "deformation prevention dedicated jig" to fire a PEEK COAT of over 1mm and finished the surface flat through mechanical cutting. ■ Effect - Reduced thermal distortion, achieving micron-level flatness and parallelism. - Realized a completely flat PEEK surface without screw holes or seams, completely eliminating scratches on workpieces!

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
