Example of applying a high-durability fluororesin coating to the tip of the ejector pin.
Thermo Pro Release
Significantly reduce mold marks and molding defects! Strongly prevent resin adhesion and sticking at the pin tip! Extend maintenance intervals with high-durability fluorine coating.
This is a technical case study on the application of a uniquely developed high-durability fluororesin coating, "Thermo Pro Release," on the tip of metal ejector pins used in the manufacturing lines of cosmetic containers and various plastic molded products. The coating imparts non-stick properties primarily to the tip of the pins that come into direct contact with the resin during the molding process, thereby resolving operational failures and resin sticking issues. 【Benefits of Implementation】 ■ Improvement in the quality of molded products (prevention of pin marks and whitening) The excellent release properties prevent molten resin from adhering to and accumulating on the pin tips. This reduces excessive load during ejection and significantly decreases appearance defects such as "pin marks" and "whitening," which are problematic in appearance-focused cosmetic containers. ■ Durability that withstands heat and wear Compared to conventional fluororesin coatings, this coating is more resistant to heat and wear (friction), making it less prone to wear and peeling of the coating film, thus prolonging the initial release performance. ■ Reduction in maintenance labor and shortening of takt time It suppresses the adhesion of resin debris and gases (tar and scale). This reduces the frequency of line stoppages for cleaning and helps prevent automatic retrieval errors, supporting unmanned operation.

Applications/Examples of results
**Main Application Uses** ■ Cosmetic and Beauty Product Containers: Molding molds for compact cases, caps, bottles, etc., where high design quality is required. ■ Precision Electronic and Electrical Components: Precision plastic molding for connectors, switches, cases, etc. ■ Automotive Interior and Mechanical Parts: Engineering plastic molding molds using filler-reinforced resins (such as PA, PBT, PPS, etc.). **Introduction Challenges and Improvement Effects** ■ Challenges: As molding cycles continued, resin debris and gas residues adhered to the tips of the ejector pins. This frequently caused pin marks, whitening, and extraction errors due to mold residue on the products, necessitating frequent disassembly, cleaning, and maintenance of the molds, leading to decreased operational efficiency and significant maintenance costs. ■ After Implementation: "Thermo Pro Release" was applied to the tips of the ejector pins. ■ Effects and Results: - Adhesion of resin to the pin tips was significantly reduced, eliminating product push marks and whitening defects, thereby improving yield. - The frequency of regular line stoppages for pin cleaning was greatly reduced, achieving a significant extension of maintenance cycles (improving continuous operating time).

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
