Rolling bearings are sometimes referred to as the "rice of machines," analogous to the Japanese diet, and they are essential mechanical components in constructing mechanical systems. In mechanical design, selecting rolling bearings according to the specifications of the machinery is part of the job, but failing to understand the fundamental principles can lead to significant mistakes.
Recently, as the control of motor rotation speed using inverters has become widespread, electrical corrosion has also been observed in household appliances. Electrical corrosion is not a form of mechanical damage. Moreover, the design of rolling bearings should not allow electricity to flow internally, so when electrical corrosion occurs, the cause is often unclear. This seminar will explain the conditions under which electrical corrosion occurs, the observation of the ridge mark growth process, and methods to prevent electrical corrosion. A seminar specifically focused on electrical corrosion in rolling bearings is rare, and I hope to make it a meaningful experience for all participants.
