Fluororesin Coating 'HBA-838'

Explanation of Yoshida SKT's fluororesin coating 'HBA-838'.

There are various types of resin for fluoropolymer coatings, depending on the application environment. At Yoshida SKT, we specify materials and processing based on the product number. 'HBA-838' is a type of PFA coating. By processing it to a thicker film, it results in a coating without pinholes, making it suitable for applications that require corrosion resistance. 【What is PFA (Perfluoroalkoxyalkane Polymer)?】 PFA is an improved resin of PTFE, with the same continuous use temperature of 260°C. Its melting point is around 310°C, and it has a lower thermal melt viscosity than PTFE, allowing for a continuous film with fewer pinholes that could not be achieved with PTFE during coating. As a corrosion-resistant coating, it has the best performance among fluoropolymer coatings. Additionally, PFA can exhibit superior non-stick properties compared to PTFE depending on the substrate, making it widely used for non-stick and release coatings. *For more details, please download the materials or contact us.

Case study on improving mold release for molten metal: Coating that solved polyethylene stringing.

We will introduce a case where surface treatment technology solved the issue of stringing in welding molds.

■Request We want to eliminate stringing that occurs on the heating plate during the thermal welding of polyethylene containers. We aim to reduce product defects caused by stringing without changing the takt time and to decrease the frequency of replacing the heating plate. ■Criteria for Processing Selection As a result of considering cost-effectiveness, we require a lifespan that is twice that of the current coating. ■Achieved Effect By adopting CHC technology for the coating, we have successfully achieved both release effect and longevity. *You can download a PDF summarizing the product information. For more details, please contact us.

Case study of mold release for molten metal: Coating that solved polypropylene stringing.

Reduce thread pulling during thermal welding of PP with surface treatment technology! Achieve long mold life!

■Consultation In our customer's process of thermally welding polypropylene products, issues such as thread pulling and adhesion to the welding mold have arisen. The welding mold required not only release properties but also heat resistance and thermal durability. ■Background and Effects of Surface Treatment Selection Our company considered a hybrid approach of ceramic-based CHC and fluororesin-based low contact area coatings to enhance release effects and prolong the lifespan of mold exchanges. We proposed "CHC-1311," which balances thermal hardness and reduced contact area. Currently, our customers are using it to achieve both release properties and long lifespan. If you are having trouble with the release properties of welding molds, please consult Yoshida SKT.

Case study on mold release for molten metal: Solving the stringing issue in battery cases through surface treatment.

We will introduce a coating case that solves the adhesion and stringing of resin that occurs during the welding process of the battery case container and lid.

■Concern In battery production, resin boxes and lids are welded together for sealing. The welding mold is made of aluminum and is heated to over 200°C for use. During this process, molten resin and stringing occur, which was addressed with a fluororesin (PTFE) coating. ■Background of Consultation with Our Company Due to the production of several thousand shots per day at temperatures above 200°C, the coating peels off in about a week. The hassle of changing setups for reprocessing and damage to the mold led to decreased production efficiency, prompting the consultation for improvements in surface treatment. ■Adopted Coating "CHC-1111CR" ■Adoption Background and Effects We proposed a newly developed "CHC-1111CR" that offers the same release properties as fluororesin coatings while maintaining high film hardness even when heated. Testing showed no stringing of the resin or peeling of the coating, allowing for use in tens of thousands of shots and achieving approximately three times the lifespan of conventional coatings. *For details on the coating, please refer to the PDF document.*

Surface treatment "Safron(R)"

Prevent "charging" of fluororesin coatings and reduce static electricity issues! It also minimizes adhesion caused by static electricity.

"SafeLon®" is a fluororesin-based surface treatment that enables static electricity prevention by allowing charges generated on the coating surface to flow to the substrate metal or ground. It reduces static electricity issues caused by fluororesin coatings and provides functions such as "preventing adhesion," "increasing slipperiness," and "enhancing corrosion resistance." Additionally, it improves production efficiency in various settings by preventing product troubles caused by material sticking and lightening the cleaning work of adhered substances. 【Features】 - Prevention of static electricity on the coating surface - Good release from adhesives, preventing or making it difficult for them to stick - Improved lubricity due to the low friction coefficient of fluororesin coatings - Prevents poor flow and clogging during transport by treating transport guides, chutes, pipes, etc. - Protects tanks and stirring blades that come into contact with chemicals, enhancing safety and durability *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

List of plastic materials, types, and characteristics.

We will introduce the types and characteristics of representative thermoplastic plastics.

Thermoplastic plastics are plastics that become soft when heated. Once softened, they can harden again upon cooling, which makes them excellent for processing such as molding. ■ Types and characteristics of thermoplastic plastics - Polyethylene (PE): The most widely produced plastic, used in items like shopping bags and food containers. - Polypropylene (PP): More heat-resistant than polyethylene, used in films and cases. - Polyvinyl chloride (PVC): Flame-resistant and durable, used in pipes and electrical wire coatings. - Fluororesin (PTFE): Excellent heat resistance, non-stick properties, and low friction characteristics. For more detailed information, please check the related link: "What are the differences between plastics, resins, and polymers? An explanation of the types of plastics and their advantages and disadvantages."
