LoRaWAN Wireless Communication Features ■ Low Power Consumption: The power consumption varies slightly depending on the end device, but due to its fast transmission and reception speeds, it consumes less power compared to other communication standards, which helps reduce maintenance frequency. Additionally, it consumes so little power that bidirectional communication can be achieved with just one button battery, and it is said that such batteries can last for over 10 years of continuous operation in some cases. ■ Long-Distance Communication: While the range of the 800MHz band used by smartphones (since 3G) is said to be about 2 to 5 km, LoRaWAN can communicate over distances of about 10 km, more than double that. In places with few obstacles, communication over distances greater than 10 km is possible, but for practical use in urban areas, it is advisable to expect a range of about 3 to 5 km, and about 1 km in indoor environments with obstacles. ■ High Noise Resistance: The 920MHz band used by LoRaWAN is less prone to interference from other wireless networks, allowing for reduced communication latency and stable communication. Therefore, it can be safely utilized in factory facilities and indoor environments.

Moxa MGate 5119 Series

Industrial Ethernet gateway with two Ethernet ports and one RS-232C/422/485 serial port.

It is an industrial Ethernet gateway that provides protocol conversion from DNP3/IEC 101/IEC 104/Modbus to IEC 61850. To integrate Modbus, IEC 60870-5-101, and IEC 60870-5-104 devices with an IEC 61850 MMS network, the MGate 5119 is used as a Modbus master/client, IEC 60870-5-101/104 master, and DNP3 serial/TCP master to perform data collection and exchange with the IEC 61850 MMS system. When used as an IEC 61850 MMS server, it typically requires importing SCL files generated by third-party tools. This can be time-consuming and increase costs.
