As the processes of fine-tuning and cleaning advance, the issues of "suction marks" and "sticking" from suction cups have become problematic. Ohtani Giken, a manufacturer of suction cups, has developed a surface modification pad as a countermeasure against "suction marks" and "sticking." The surface modification pad epoxy-coats the surface of the suction cup. The modified layer (epoxy layer) is approximately 50μm thick from the surface and possesses characteristics such as "improved slip," "barrier effect," and "non-stick properties." While maintaining the overall rubber characteristics, including elasticity, the surface is modified to solve issues related to surface entanglement.
