[Technical Data] Development Trends of DLC Coatings in Cutting Tools

We conducted cutting tests under water atmosphere in AC2A using cutting chips with ta-C film formed on the surface with T-FAD.

Our company has manufactured the T-shaped Filtered Arc (T-FAD) device developed by a professor at Toyohashi University of Technology, and has developed ta-C (our product name: AC-X) as a product for commissioned film deposition, significantly reducing the contamination of droplets in the film. This document provides detailed explanations specifically regarding the cutting of the aluminum alloy "AC2A" used for castings. We invite you to read it. [Contents (partial)] ■1. Introduction ■2. T-FAD ・2.1 Device Overview ・2.2 Film Deposition Conditions ■3. Characteristics of ta-C Film *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

DLC coating

Coatings that support manufacturing! They are used in a wide range of industries.

"DLC" stands for "Diamond Like Carbon," which is a surface treatment technology that involves coating a thin film primarily composed of carbon onto surfaces such as metals. It is widely adopted across various industries as a coating that supports manufacturing, including cutting tools, molds, automotive parts, machine components, and medical parts. DLC, which features a mixture of structures like diamond and graphite, is harder and has better lubricity compared to common ceramic coatings such as titanium-based or chromium-based coatings, and it excels in properties like "wear resistance" and "adhesion resistance to non-ferrous metals." 【Features】 ■ Film thickness of a few microns ■ Available in a range of hardness (1000–7000 Hv) ■ Excellent lubricity *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

High durability ICF (genuine carbon film) DLC

[New Product] The wear amount is reduced to 1/100 compared to conventional DLC, achieving even higher durability!

ICF refers to carbon films with high functionality, including DLC. Our company has developed a unique DLC coating technology that allows for various doping and structural control of DLC, successfully imparting various high functionalities. Conventional DLC films were hard but prone to cracking and peeling. This high-durability ICF, through innovative coating conditions and gradient layers, has a low initial friction coefficient (μ=0.15) and is resistant to peeling even under high loads, exhibiting excellent durability and wear resistance. Additionally, being maintenance-free, it can improve the reliability and lifespan of the molds and sliding components used. For more detailed information, please contact us or download the catalog.
