Fluororesin coating 'QCE-033M'

Explanation of Yoshida SKT's fluororesin coating 'QCE-033M'.

There are various types of resin for fluoropolymer coatings, depending on the application environment. At Yoshida SKT, we specify materials and processing according to the product number. 'QCE-033M' is a type of PFA coating. Among fluoropolymer coatings, it is characterized by excellent non-stick properties, smoothness, and minimal defects. 【What is PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy Alkane Polymer)?】 ■Features It is an improved resin of PTFE, having the same continuous use temperature of 260°C as PTFE. With a low thermal melt viscosity, it can achieve a continuous film with fewer pinholes than PTFE, making it the highest-performing fluoropolymer for corrosion-resistant coatings. Additionally, PFA is superior in non-stick properties compared to PTFE for certain applications, and is used as a high-temperature release coating. Fluororesin: "Why is it not affected by chemicals?"

Fluororesin is well-known as a plastic that is not affected by acids or alkalis. I will explain the principle of why it does not dissolve in solvents such as acids and alkalis.

■Chemical Resistance of Fluororesin Fluororesin has high chemical resistance and does not dissolve, swell, or react with most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. ■Reasons for High Chemical Resistance A major reason for the excellent chemical resistance of fluororesin is its stable molecular structure. Fluororesin is a high molecular polymer with a linear molecular structure formed by the bonding of carbon atoms and fluorine atoms. The bond energy between carbon and fluorine atoms (C-F) is very strong among chemical bonds, and furthermore, the C-C bond sections between carbon atoms are tightly covered by fluorine atoms in a helical manner. Therefore, it remains inert when in contact with chemicals or solvents, and does not degrade or dissolve as a resin, which means it has excellent chemical resistance. ■Applications of Fluororesin's Chemical Resistance - Various gaskets - Packing materials - Piping and hoses - Storage tanks - Reaction vessels - Heat exchangers *For more details, please download the materials or refer to the link below.*

[Free Offer] Innovative Silicone Coating for Tackiness Solutions in Products

Experience the "innovative silicone coating" designed to tackle sticky, unmanageable surfaces that cannot be handled with Teflon coating!

For preventing the sticking of sticky adhesive substances, which does not work well with Teflon coatings or fluororesin coatings, the following general measures have been taken, but there are limitations. ≫ Silicone release agents These are spray-type agents that can be easily applied by on-site workers and are familiar as release agents for resin molding. → However, they lack durability in their effectiveness, requiring frequent reapplication, and when wiped off with solvents for cleaning, the release agent is also removed. ≫ Surface roughening (physically reducing contact area) By making the surface of the components uneven, it becomes less likely for things to stick. There are many examples where combining this with Teflon coatings enhances effectiveness. → However, there are concerns about the risk of defective products due to the uneven shape being transferred to the product, and the difficulty of wiping or cleaning during maintenance due to the roughness. Our company has further evolved a smooth silicone coating that is effective against sticky adhesive substances and allows for solvent cleaning, tailored to the "troubles" faced on-site. We are currently offering a "feel the effect kit" for free! The "experience kit" can be requested from the official Yoshida SKT website.

PTFE Lubricity

What are the reasons for the excellent sliding properties of fluoropolymer? We will introduce the characteristics of fluoropolymer PTFE, focusing on its lubricity and low friction. *Downloadable materials available.

■Low Friction and Sliding Properties of Fluoropolymer (PTFE) Fluoropolymers have a low coefficient of friction and are used for solid lubrication. PTFE is structured such that fluorine atoms surround carbon atoms without gaps. The free energy of the fluorine atoms on the molecular surface is low, and the molecules have the characteristic of extremely low polarity in their target structure. The low coefficient of friction of PTFE is believed to be influenced by this type of molecular structure. ■Reasons for the Low Coefficient of Friction of Fluoropolymer PTFE - The strong atomic bonds within PTFE molecules reduce the intermolecular forces with the contacting material. - Friction (sliding) causes PTFE molecules to adhere slightly to the counterpart material, resulting in sliding between PTFE molecules. - The surface of PTFE molecules has a smooth structure with minimal irregularities. - The orientation of PTFE molecules makes it easier to alleviate frictional resistance. For these reasons, fluoropolymer PTFE is considered to have excellent lubricating properties. For more details, please download the materials or contact us.

Teflon Coating: "What is the difference between frying pan use and industrial use?"

I will explain the difference between Teflon coating commonly seen on frying pans and the Teflon coating processed for industrial use.

◆Differences Between Frying Pans and Industrial Teflon Coatings◆ Teflon processing for frying pans typically involves products made with PTFE at a thickness of about 20 to 50 micrometers. PTFE is a representative fluororesin and is the first resin developed. Formally, "Teflon" is a registered trademark of the fluororesin by DuPont in the United States, while the general term is fluororesin processing (coating). PTFE not only excels in non-stick and water-repellent properties but also has good heat resistance, making it suitable for frying pans. On the other hand, industrial Teflon coatings not only have the non-stick properties like frying pans but are also used for various applications such as improving slip, protecting substrates from chemicals, and enhancing insulation properties. Therefore, the types of resins used include not only PTFE but also PFA and FEP. Our company can process PTFE coatings, but we also offer Teflon coatings using various materials and technologies. *Note: "Teflon" is currently a trademark of Chemours. Our company has a licensing agreement with Chemours and is capable of processing Teflon coatings in our own factory.

I will introduce the characteristics of different types of fluororesins.

I will explain nine types of fluororesins.

List of 9 Representative Fluororesins ■PTFE Also known as polytetrafluoroethylene or tetrafluoroethylene, it is a white fluororesin with excellent sliding properties, non-stick characteristics, chemical resistance, and electrical properties. ■FEP A melt-processable perfluoropolymer developed after PTFE, it is a copolymer of TFE and hexafluoropropylene (HFP). Although its continuous use temperature is inferior to that of PTFE, it excels in moldability and non-stick properties. ■PFA A fluororesin developed to lower the melt viscosity while maintaining heat resistance equivalent to PTFE. It is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and perfluorovinyl ether (PFVE). ■ETFE A copolymer of TFE and ethylene, it is partially fluorinated. While it has excellent processability, its heat resistance and chemical resistance are lower compared to the above three types since it is not a perfluoropolymer.

Optimal surface treatment for those struggling to remove hardened epoxy resin.

Silicone-free, prevents adhesive adhesion to molds with low-temperature processing. By utilizing surface treatment, various production challenges can be solved. Samples and case studies are currently available.

Problems I wanted to solve and things I wanted to achieve There was an issue with epoxy adhesives adhering to the mold. The silicone-based release agent used had good release properties, but it easily transferred to the molded products, causing adhesion failures in subsequent bonding processes. Background/Conditions for Choosing Treatment What was needed was mold release without silicone. Additionally, materials that could withstand the pressure of molding and allow for low-temperature processing applicable to aluminum molds, which are prone to thermal deformation, were required. Achieved Effects Among the Bi-Coat series, "Bi-Coat Exceed NYK-2000E-C" was chosen. This is a fluorine-based coating that does not cause silicone transfer issues and allows for low-temperature processing, making it safe to use on aluminum molds. With this coating, the use of silicone-based release agents became unnecessary, achieving a silicone-free environment. Mold release troubles were resolved, and the quality and productivity of the products improved. **Features of Bi-Coat NYK-2000E-C** - Silicone-free - Low-temperature processing available - Prevents adhesive adhesion to molds For more detailed inquiries about Bi-Coat, please contact Yoshida SKT!

Fluororesin Coating: "What is the 'Air Baking' in the Degreasing Process?"

A degreasing process to ensure strong adhesion of the non-stick "fluororesin coating" to the substrate. This explains "pre-baking."

■ What is the degreasing process? It is the process of removing oils, fats, and dirt that are attached to the surface to be coated. ■ Issues arising from insufficient degreasing It can lead to problems such as the coating material repelling, poor adhesion of the paint film, and the occurrence of appearance defects like stains. ■ Types of degreasing methods - Air roasting - Solvent cleaning ■ Air roasting process The substrate is heated in a roasting furnace to a temperature above the coating processing temperature, allowing oils and other substances to be oxidized and burned off. Typically, roasting is performed for several hours at temperatures exceeding 400°C. ■ Advantages of air roasting - No toxic gases are generated during the decomposition of oils, which are broken down into water and carbon dioxide. - It can completely decompose all organic components that could cause problems during the coating firing process. - It can accommodate large products as long as they fit into the roasting furnace. Fluoropolymer coatings, which excel in non-stick properties, adhere firmly to the substrate and perform effectively when a proper degreasing process (surface preparation) is carried out. * For an overview of the fluoropolymer coating process, please download the PDF or feel free to consult us.

What is the difference between lining and fluororesin (Teflon) coating?

I will explain the differences between fluororesin (Teflon) coating and lining.

■Difference Between Lining and Coating Lining is a method that protects the substrate with a relatively thick film, enhancing its corrosion resistance. The differences from coating include the thickness of the film, the presence of pinholes, and the intended use. There are no clear standards, but thick films used for corrosion protection are referred to as lining. ■What is Fluororesin Coating? Coating is a surface treatment technology that can impart the properties of fluororesin to the surface of a substrate, primarily using a baking paint method. The film thickness is generally around several tens of micrometers. ■What is Fluororesin Lining? Fluororesin lining can be processed using the same method as coating. It is particularly used for corrosion protection applications that leverage chemical resistance, and the film thickness is several hundred micrometers, making it thicker than coating. Additionally, to enhance corrosion resistance, processing without pinholes is possible. *You can download a document summarizing information about lining. *For more details, please click on "PDF Download" or feel free to contact us.

What is stainless steel insulation surface treatment?

Stainless steel is resistant to rust and is used for various applications. Here, we will introduce methods to impart insulation properties to stainless steel.

■Corrosion and Insulation of Stainless Steel Stainless steel is known for its resistance to rust, but it can experience galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals. By coating it with a highly insulating resin to eliminate electrical contact, galvanic corrosion can be prevented. ■Highly Insulating Resins In general, plastics (resins) do not conduct electricity. Among them, resins such as fluororesin and polyimide are particularly excellent in electrical insulation and heat resistance, making them suitable for various applications. ■Cautions for Insulating Surface Treatments By insulating the surface of stainless steel with coatings like fluororesin, it is possible to maintain a state where electricity does not flow through the stainless steel surface. However, such coatings may require high-temperature curing and must be free of pinholes. Therefore, considerations regarding the design of the base material (component) and film thickness are necessary, and it is appropriate to consult a specialized contractor. *For information on the electrical properties of fluororesins, please click "PDF Download" or feel free to contact us. If you are considering an insulating coating for stainless steel, please do not hesitate to contact Yoshida SKT.

An explanation of the fluoropolymer PTFE, which has excellent gas barrier properties and high chemical resistance.

PTFE is a rare resin that excels in chemical resistance, heat resistance, and gas barrier properties.

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) has a very stable molecular structure and excellent chemical resistance. It is also known for its particularly high gas barrier properties among fluoropolymers. This is because PTFE has very low permeability, making it difficult for gases and vapors to pass through. Therefore, it is suitable for use under harsh chemical conditions, such as in chemical plants and semiconductor manufacturing processes. Furthermore, PTFE has high heat resistance and can be used in a temperature range from -200°C to +260°C. This allows it to maintain its properties even under extreme temperature conditions. However, it is important to select the appropriate usage environment, as it may react with fluorine (gas) or alkali metals (sodium, potassium, lithium) under certain conditions. Fluoropolymer lining can form a lining with high gas barrier and chemical resistance properties on the substrate. For more detailed information on chemical resistance, please download the materials or contact us.

Surface treatment technology Ultra-thin film nano-coating technology 'TC-10S'

TC-10S is a super-thin film fluorine-based nano-coating technology. It excels in precision, visible light transmittance, water repellency, and oil repellency. We are currently providing materials.

The "Nano Process TC-10S" enables nano-coating with ultra-thin film surface treatment technology of less than 100μm, excelling in precision, visible light transmittance, water repellency, and oil repellency. It causes almost no dimensional changes and can maintain optical properties, making it possible to apply water-repellent and release processing to "precision parts" where fluororesin coating was difficult, as well as in fields that require high dimensional and surface accuracy. <Examples of Applications> - Sealing and water-repellent treatment for electronic devices and components - Water repellency for optical lenses - Prevention of oil diffusion in bearing components - Prevention of oil sludge in sealing components - Prevention of adhesion of flux and other substances - Measures against liquid drainage for resist liquids, etc. - Improvement of water repellency for scientific instruments Additionally, Nano Process has been renewed with three other new functions, each with different features and applications. Currently, we are offering technical documents summarizing the details of each series. *If you are interested in more details or are facing challenges with surface treatment in precision fields, please download the documents or contact us directly.
