033【Our Technical Capabilities】2025/07/17 This time, we would like to introduce our original chucking fixture, which was conceived, designed, and manufactured in-house to improve processing efficiency and workability when we undertook mass production machining of cast bronze products. This fixture is characterized by its focus on machining efficiency, allowing for the simultaneous processing of two workpieces using a parallel two-axis drill. Therefore, even if there is a thickness variation of up to 1.5mm between the two workpieces (the white and blue plates in the photo), it is designed to ensure that they are securely and evenly chucked with four claws, taking this aspect into consideration. Furthermore, with a single tightening lever, all four claws can be opened and closed simultaneously, making the loading and unloading of workpieces very efficient. Technical Capabilities of Nitto Kogyo Co., Ltd. ~Successful Development Case of an Ultra-Small Wankel Rotary Engine (0.137cc)~ In 2000, we received a request from a certain university in the United States to design and manufacture an ultra-small Wankel rotary engine (RE). The key to the success of this project was the realization of a fully self-operating ultra-small RE. The university had been independently developing several ultra-small REs, but when the starter output was reduced to below 50%, the operation would stop, making development difficult. This led to a request from the university, which focused on our NR-20 series. After receiving a detailed explanation of the project, we utilized our unique technology and began design and development from scratch. As a result, we completed an ultra-small RE with a displacement of 0.137cc, smaller than the university's prototype. After delivery, it was reported that a 100% self-operating test using hydrogen fuel at the university was successful. In this processing, there was a challenge that the fins were prone to breakage during machining due to the deep fin grooves. The client's request was to polish more than 15 dentures at once, which is more than conventional products, and to significantly reduce the polishing time compared to existing machines. However, the client did not have the know-how for developing dedicated machines or a dedicated department, so all development was entrusted to our company. Leveraging our long-standing know-how in designing and manufacturing jigs and dedicated machines, as well as our machining track record, we devised a unique concept for a dedicated machine. First, we designed and manufactured a test machine and confirmed the polishing quality using several dentures. After that, we designed and manufactured the completed machine, as shown in the photo, and delivered it to the client. ~Success Case of Machining a Prototype Folding Bicycle~ The client conceived, designed, and drafted the plans, while our company was responsible for the machining based on those drawings. The material used was a special aluminum supplied by the client that is not commonly available in the market. We machined parts for one complete bicycle, including the "folding main frame, wheels, forks, etc." Due to cost considerations, we processed only the requested parts without any spares. Initially, we were concerned about machining errors due to the high number of processes and the complexity of the shapes. Any machining errors would require rework, such as welding, which could lead to color changes in the reworked areas after surface treatment, resulting in defects and necessitating remanufacturing. Fortunately, we completed and delivered all parts without a single machining error. The final product achieved a balance of durability and aesthetics. This project proceeded smoothly through all stages, receiving high praise from the client. The ability to deliver without remanufacturing demonstrates our high level of technical skill. This device first sorts two types of parts (A and B) that are randomly transported from the parts supply machine into two categories, and then aligns the direction of parts A and B to a consistent orientation.
