Surface finishing agent

During the process of applying or coating onto the substrate, various surface defects can occur. One cause is a significant difference in surface tension. For example, if the surface tension of the coating is higher than that of the substrate, issues such as poor wettability (high contact angle), poor adhesion, and beading can arise. Even after application or during drying, this difference in surface tension can lead to undesirable leveling and color bleeding. BYK additives can improve or prevent these surface defects.

Water-based inkjet surface modifier "BYK-3420" with excellent hydrolysis stability The new BYK-3420 is stable against hydrolysis, and even under high temperatures (60°C) or varying pH levels, the surface tension of the formulation remains unchanged after storage. It significantly lowers surface tension without stabilizing foam, promoting wetting on difficult substrates. Complies with Swiss chemical regulations and Nestlé guidelines. The composition is a combination of high boiling point solvents and defoaming agents. The recommended addition amount is 0.3-3% as an additive relative to the total formulation.

"BYKETOL-WA" is a silicone-free surface modifier that prevents surface defects such as water-based paint edge, pinholes, bubbles, orange peel, and crawling, while improving leveling properties.
