"BYK-AQUAGEL" is an easily dispersible inorganic layered additive that has been highly purified from natural hydrophilic layered silicates and dried while maintaining a delaminated state using a shock drying method. When added as a packaged product or intermediate, the viscosity effect remains almost unchanged, and the resistance to dripping is similarly maintained. Our company handles the liquid defoamer 'BYK-1680'. The generation of bubbles is generally undesirable not only during the manufacturing of paints, printing inks, and plastic materials but also in many processes. Defoamers and antifoaming agents prevent and remove bubble formation, improving manufacturing processes and achieving excellent surfaces and suitable product characteristics. "BYK-3450/BYK-3451" is a water-based surface modifier that significantly reduces surface tension without increasing slip properties and improves wettability on very low polarity substrates. Based on a trisiloxane developed by BYK, the two additives "BYK-3450" and "BYK-3451" provide good wettability even on very challenging substrates, while also offering significant expansion performance. "BYK-3566" is a newly added acrylic surface modifier based on macromer technology in the BYK product line. It increases the surface energy of dried coatings. The relatively long silicone macromer chains are a key feature, providing a very strong orientation at the paint/air interface, resulting in excellent effects. BYK itself does not manufacture disinfectants or raw materials for disinfection, but BYK rheology additives are effective in imparting viscosity to mixtures of alcohol based on ethanol or isopropanol and water. RECYCLOBYK 4371 not only improves processing stability and long-term thermal stability but also has a compatibility effect for different polyolefins. RECYCLOBYK 4372 not only improves light stability but also enhances processing thermal stability and long-term thermal stability. RECYCLOBYK 4373 improves processing stability and long-term thermal stability, and additionally reduces the adverse effects of impurities such as paint residues. RECYCLOBYK 4374 improves processability and mechanical properties, stabilizing and compatibilizing plastic recyclables from the adverse effects of other polymer impurities like printing inks and incompatible resins. BYK-C 8001 was specifically developed for glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin applications. This additive improves mechanical properties by bonding the fibers and the matrix. The degree of improvement depends on the combination of glass fibers and epoxy resin. As the world's first specialty chemical manufacturer, BYK currently offers additives certified by Germanischer Lloyd: BYK-C 8001. Wind turbine manufacturers can use polymer-type coupling agents without further testing in glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin—an important factor for resource efficiency in the globally thriving wind power market.

For example, BYK-MAX LS 4125 provides excellent weather resistance for thick PP and PE molded products, as well as for relatively large surface area products such as films, fibers, and tapes. The stabilizer formulation containing high concentrations of HALS not only suppresses the photodegradation of the material but also acts as a radical scavenger, peroxide decomposer, and reaction inhibitor. BYK-1760 is a newly developed defoamer that enables the rapid and efficient removal of air from the system without altering optical or mechanical properties. This highly effective additive is primarily recommended for solvent-free systems. The epoxy functional groups contained in the additive allow for fixation in the polymer matrix, preventing negative side effects such as increased slip. Furthermore, BYK-1760 is also recommended for plastic applications (such as casting resins) as well as adhesives and sealants. This additive also demonstrates a wide range of properties in these applications.

DISPERBYK-2014 exhibits a balanced polarity and, due to its 100% active ingredients, demonstrates excellent dispersion stabilization effects for organic pigments and carbon black pigments in solvent-based, solvent-free, water-based coatings, and UV-curable systems. With the high deagglomeration effect of DISPERBYK-2014, it is possible to design coating systems with excellent optical properties. The improvement in color strength and transparency is particularly notable, along with high gloss and low haze. In water-based systems, DISPERBYK-2014 can be used for both resin dispersions and resin-free dispersions. Amines, co-solvents, and surfactants can be added to the resin-free dispersion. DISPERBYK-2014 can be used in air-dry systems, two-component systems, baking systems, and radical curing systems.

BYK-092 is a highly effective defoamer specifically designed for water-based clear coats and high-gloss systems. It also exhibits excellent performance in matte and pigment systems. It has a balanced compatibility and incompatibility, which does not affect transparency or gloss. It is effective with all standard application methods, including roller coating, brush application, spraying, and curtain coating. This additive can generally be added at any stage of the manufacturing process.

BYK-A 560 N is recommended for all fiber-reinforced unsaturated polyester applications. BYK-A 560 N also demonstrates excellent degassing properties in certain gel coats, particularly in systems where airless processes are used. It is commonly used to improve the wettability of fibers. Wettability is enhanced in all common application methods, including RTM, injection, infusion, winding, and laminating. In pull-out molding applications, BYK-A 560 N improves degassing in the resin tank, prevents air entrapment, and enhances the wettability of fibers during processing.

It functions as a defoamer during manufacturing and application. It also reduces surface tension, improves leveling and wettability, and prevents the formation of Benard cells. The reduction in surface tension can be mitigated by decreasing the polarity of the binder system.

Features RHEOBYK-7601 increases viscosity in low shear regions and creates a high pseudoplastic flow behavior. As a result, sag resistance and storage stability are significantly improved, and good leveling is also achieved. When added to color pastes, this additive enhances the compatibility of the system's color paste while maintaining viscosity. Due to its composition, the addition of RHEOBYK-7601 is very simple, requiring no temperature control or pH adjustment. The balanced compatibility of this additive allows for use in various paint systems, particularly yielding good results in low VOC and VOC-free formulations. When combined with rheological additives effective in high shear regions, optimal workability is achieved.

BYK-1789 is a very effective defoamer for water-based paints that is solvent-free. It particularly removes microfoam in thick film systems. BYK-1789 is also effective in fast-drying water-based systems. Additionally, it improves wetting of the paint on the substrate. Therefore, it is especially recommended for DTM (direct-to-metal) coatings. BYK-1789 has been specially developed for use in water-based epoxy systems. This additive has shear stability and is particularly suitable for airless spray painting. At the same time, it shows good compatibility and significant effectiveness in other systems, such as air-drying acrylates. Even after long-term storage of the paint, it retains its properties. With excellent defoaming and wetting properties, it can be considered the first choice for challenging water-based systems.

The new BYK-3420 is stable against hydrolysis, and even under high temperatures (60°C) or varying pH conditions, the surface tension of the formulation remains unchanged after storage. It significantly reduces surface tension without stabilizing foam, promoting wetting on particularly challenging substrates. BYK-3420 complies with the Swiss chemical regulations and Nestlé guidelines, and it is not labeled as SVHC.

The new CERAFLOUR 999 is a wax with a very fine and uniform particle distribution. This additive is not simply a mixture of soft polyethylene and relatively hard PTFE, but is co-milled using BYK's novel manufacturing process. The resulting wax additive improves the scratch resistance and abrasion resistance of the coating film while also achieving a smooth surface. Various additional effects can be achieved, such as high gloss and high transparency, a soft touch tactile effect, or a slight matte effect.

BYK powder coating process additives BYK-3950 P, BYK-3951 P, and BYK-3955 P contribute to labor-saving in the paint manufacturing process and are very effective in improving appearance (haze, gloss, leveling) and enhancing degassing properties. Expected effects from the application of process additives: - High concentration of pigments and fillers - Improved appearance (haze, gloss, leveling) - Reduced melt viscosity during curing - Simplification of the extruder process - Enhanced degassing properties For improving degassing properties in primid-based powder coatings, we recommend wax additives CERAFLOUR 960 and CERAFLOUR 964. - CERAFLOUR 964 enhances degassing properties without adversely affecting gloss (non-blooming). It is very suitable for glossy powder coatings and is particularly ideal for dark-colored applications where visible surface defects are likely to occur. Its low melting point also makes it optimal for low-temperature curing systems (LT systems).

It particularly has a matte finish effect in radiation-curing systems and produces a highly transparent coating due to its fine particle size distribution. It does not affect viscosity or surface slip and does not cause foam stabilization. CERAFLOUR 1001 is biodegradable and consists of over 97% renewable raw materials. CERAFLOUR 1002 is biodegradable and composed of over 97% renewable raw materials. BYK-P 4100 For thermoplastic resins: BYK-P 4100 is a surfactant process additive suitable for filled thermoplastic compounds. During the manufacturing of the compound, this additive reduces the required torque. It improves injection capability and melt volume rate (MVR). The tensile strength, E-modulus, and notched impact strength of the final product are enhanced. Printability is also improved. For PVC plastisol: It exhibits good release properties from gelation drums, release papers, flat screens, and molds. Additionally, it affects the cell structure of chemically foamed bubbles, enhancing elasticity and breathability. There are specific PVCs suitable for continuous bubbles. A continuous bubble structure can only be formed when the formulation components and process parameters are compatible with each other. The use of BYK-P 4100 improves water absorption. For PVC calendaring: It shows very good release properties during the processing of soft, semi-rigid, and rigid PVC. The printability of the final product is also improved.

Additionally, it enhances the adhesion of the topcoat applied over the substrate. The effect can also be expected for plastic substrates if they are composite materials like glass.

SCONA 20097: It is a polypropylene homopolymer grafted with high-purity maleic anhydride. Due to its very low viscosity, it has excellent wetting properties. By blending it, the polarity of polypropylene is increased, improving compatibility with high-polarity polymers such as EVOH. Additionally, it serves as an excellent coupling agent for short and long fiber glass-reinforced polyolefins, enhancing their physical, mechanical, and thermal properties. Furthermore, SCONA 20097 can be used as a coupling agent in natural fiber-reinforced and wood fiber-reinforced composites. This additive has excellent mechanical strength and offers good cost-effectiveness. It also has a very weak odor and low VOC content. PRIEX 20097 is a pellet with good flowability, making it safe and easy to handle.
