(Column) Car Racing

  • Other・notification

There is a car race called Super GT. Sports cars such as the Supra, Fairlady Z, and Prelude appear in it. The opening race is held at the Okayama International Circuit, located about an hour's drive from my home in the mountains of Okayama. I went to watch the opening race to accompany my son, who loves racing. For more details, please see the link below: https://mbp-japan.com/hyogo/banyohkagaku/column/5221171/

(Column) The revolution of being able to type kanji easily!

  • Other・notification

Tadao Umesao, who was also the first director of the National Museum of Ethnology, seemed to have wanted to write quickly and stylishly. For this reason, he even worked on the development of a typewriter for writing in Japanese. In his work, "The Techniques of Intellectual Production" (Iwanami Shinsho), there is a passage as follows: P153 From Pen to Typewriter From my perspective, the goal is to use the typewriter to write in Japanese, not to use Roman or kana characters. For it to be accepted by society, the psychological resistance must be minimal. If possible, it would be ideal to type the current mixed kanji and kana text directly. The difficulty arises because that is not possible. Umesao's struggle was suddenly resolved with the advent of word processors. I believe it was an event that could truly be called a "revolution!" (Column) "Safety and Security" Have Completely Different Meanings!

  • Other・notification

Recently, at the general meeting of the local community association, candidates for the upcoming city council elections were present. They all advocated for "creating a safe and secure town." However, upon further inquiry, it became clear that what we envision as "safety and security" is quite different from their understanding. For example, there are irrigation channels running through the local area, which have sufficient flow and velocity for power generation throughout the year. It seems that due to water rights, there is a requirement to keep water flowing at all times. I inquired about this, but everyone seemed indifferent. When I asked about the specifics of "safety and security," the most they could offer was the installation of security cameras, and since there was originally no substance to their claims, they seemed unable to provide any meaningful answers. It's truly disappointing. For more details, please refer to the links below: https://mbp-japan.com/hyogo/banyohkagaku/column/5219839/ https://youtu.be/IYg-g2UPcS0

(Column) Shouting in the Wilderness

  • Other・notification

Dear everyone, thank you for your continued support. I am writing my daily thoughts. No response no matter how hard I try! The feeling of "no response no matter how hard I try!" is increasing at an accelerating rate. The sins of AI! On the other hand, there is now a system where AI automatically sends greeting emails to those with whom one has exchanged business cards, and continues to send emails regularly thereafter. It seems that many companies are rushing to adopt this system. To be frank, such unnecessary emails are nothing but a nuisance, and I want them to stop immediately! This shallow tool developed by bothersome entities in society is causing truly important and necessary information to be lost, and only unnecessary profit-driven discussions are circulating in the world. Crying out in the wilderness! I was reminded of the phrase "crying out in the wilderness" regarding the complete lack of response to such societal issues. This phrase comes from a work by my high school teacher. Although it was an event over 40 years ago, it still feels fresh and resonates with me today. (Column) In the end, is there no choice but to do it steadily?

  • Other・notification

The phenomenon of "no response" continues even when emails are sent as usual. In the midst of this, I have been in close contact with an expert who has been involved for many years in large-scale public facility systems at one of Japan's leading IT companies. So, I asked about the current state of affairs. The answer I received was surprisingly straightforward and quite obvious: "Bulk sending is not advisable." I immediately put this into practice this week. As a result, I observed positive effects. Indeed, when it comes to matters, there is no choice but to proceed steadily. Guidelines for Creating Technical Reports and Presentation Materials Useful for Practical Work

  • Seminar・Event

【Purpose of the Course】 In recent years, there has been an increase in people who cannot teach how to write reports, resulting in a significant rise in individuals who are unable to write reports or even read them. Nevertheless, the importance of reports and presentation materials is only increasing for the education of students and young employees, as well as for business succession. 【Knowledge to be Acquired and Benefits Gained】 - The significance of reports - The effects of reports - How to create reports - How to create presentation materials - A lifestyle that does not rely too much on AI - Awareness of the importance of uplifting everyone, which makes the company thrive the most! 【Method and Duration of the Lecture】 - In-person or via WEB (In the case of in-person, we may request transportation expenses.) - Duration: Approximately 5 hours (including practical exercises), but we can consider shortening it. 【Tuition Fees】 - Negotiable. For example, you can choose from the following patterns: (1) 50,000 yen to 100,000 yen, no limit on the number of participants (2) Starting from 10,000 yen, with an additional 5,000 yen for each additional person.

(COLUMN) Beware of Retirees from Large Corporations! (2)

  • Other・notification

At the exhibitions I frequently attend, there are not only private companies but also various public facilities exhibiting. Among them, there has recently been an increase in booths introducing so-called "experts???" referred to as coordinators. However, most of these coordinators are individuals who were not useful in large corporations. If they were truly skilled, they wouldn't be displaying their photos in such places; they would still be thriving in the companies they originally belonged to. (Column) Reliable information is valuable for both parties.

  • Other・notification

Due to the nature of my work, exhibitions are an important source of information. I spend the entire day walking around the venue, often skipping lunch. In the past, I used to exchange business cards with nearly 50 people a day, but recently it has often been less than 30. The reason is that I spend more time having in-depth conversations at each booth. I often see people at these exhibitions silently taking flyers without engaging in conversation. I find this to be a great waste. In fact, even the exhibitors feel that when someone just takes a flyer without talking, it doesn't leave a good impression. The reality is that what is written on the flyer is not everything. The amount of information gained from direct conversations, including demonstrations, is significant. On the other hand, solid information obtained from specialized English magazines holds considerable value, and if it requires effort to acquire and digest, its worth skyrockets. This is in stark contrast to information that is hastily cut and pasted from the internet or easily obtained from social media. To the teachers who have given up on using SPring-8... It's still too early to give up!

  • Campaign

We have been hearing more and more complaints about the difficulties in using the SPring-8 facility, particularly regarding the 'chemistry sample preparation room'! - There are no dedicated staff. - I forgot to apply for the use of the chemistry sample preparation room. - Any small mistake in the application can hinder the experiment. - Is it okay if the experiment leader does not come to the facility? - There is no general SPring-8 project number. - I forgot that there are multiple beamlines to use. - I forgot to apply for the draft usage. - I am not sure if the reagents provided are included. - The beamline staff are too busy to consult about bringing in reagents. - There was a partial omission of the reagents planned for use. - The planned usage amount was too small. - I am unsure if the reagents I am bringing can be used. - The disposal of waste from the brought-in reagents is troublesome (like taking it back home). - I am worried that students will cause trouble with waste disposal. - Instructions and post-use checks fall on weekends and holidays. - Even basic solvents like acetone are difficult to use. - Cleaning solutions like acids and bases are also hard to use. - Working under time pressure is tough in the first place. - And so on... Therefore, the Hanyou Chemical Research Institute has the solution!

(The column) The fall from a science and technology powerhouse was bound to happen.

  • Other・notification

In seminars and bestselling books, it is often discussed as if the knowledge that science and engineering graduates learned long ago in university or graduate school is some kind of golden rule, enveloped in a sense of "it's too late now." Why does this phenomenon occur everywhere? I think the answer is simple. Ultimately, it is because this country has continued to "underestimate science and technology." At the high school I graduated from, the majority of students were in the "private liberal arts" category and avoided studying science and mathematics as much as possible. I feel that this phenomenon is the same throughout society, except for some advanced schools. As a result, the voices of those in science and mathematics have not been reflected in society, and inevitably, "the common sense of science and mathematics has become the uncommon sense of the world." (Column) Looking out the train window (2)

  • Other・notification

In the previous session, I recommended stopping the use of smartphones and instead gazing out of the car window. (Gazing out of the car window) I feel that humans need time to just zone out and look at something. The more I drive every day, the stronger that feeling becomes. It's obvious, but when you're driving, you can't really look out the window. Moreover, driving itself is likely quite stressful. Personally, I enjoy driving. I've been driving manual cars for many years, and I still use a manual van for business purposes. Even so, when I drive, I find myself needing to use the restroom more often. I think that indicates just how stressful it is. For more details, please visit here.

Speak positively about good things.

  • Other・notification

It was one day. Perhaps I could get my finger caught in the bus door and have it torn off? Or maybe I would be dragged and end up with bruises all over my body? In any case, there were things that sent a chill down my spine when I thought about it. I absolutely want the bus company to stop trying to close the doors when there are passengers trying to board. Therefore, it was very meaningful to convey this to the bus company. However, on the other hand, I also felt that it was equally important to share the 'good things' I experienced on the same bus from the same company that night. If it encourages the driver, they will become more safety-conscious, and ultimately, it will allow passengers to ride the bus with peace of mind. Until now, at my consulting clients, I have always made it a point to point out any 'good things' I find, no matter how small. In daily life, it’s easy to want to talk only about 'bad things,' but I believe we should consciously look for and discuss 'good things.' What do you think? (Column) Gazing out of the train window

  • Other・notification

About a month ago, I took the Sanyo Electric Railway to the Hanshin Electric Railway express train from Himeji to Osaka on a Sunday. The important point here is that it was a "Sunday." The decisive difference from usual days is that there were "families" on board. I had somewhat anticipated this, but nowadays, almost 100% of parents are completely absorbed in their smartphones, ignoring their children who might be standing behind the driver's seat, shouting, or doing anything else. In fact, they even hand another smartphone to their child, effectively using it as a babysitter. At this rate, it's no wonder that these children will grow up to be adults with communication disorders. Invitation for "Technical Consultation (Limited to 5 Companies)" for Researchers and Engineers

  • Seminar・Event

In conversations with engineers in the manufacturing industry, I have increasingly received the following inquiries: - Confusion in interpreting experimental results - Taking time to organize hypotheses regarding the causes of troubles - Uncertainty about how to evaluate the impact of changes in raw materials or processes - Anxiety about the judgment of results from external testing organizations Considering the themes being discussed internally, I thought, "Could there be an opportunity to provide support as a third-party engineer for brainstorming?" Therefore, we have decided to establish a trial "Technical Consultation Opportunity." 【Overview of Technical Consultation】 - Target: Engineers and research and development personnel in the manufacturing industry, etc. - Content: Organizing experimental plans, interpreting results, organizing trouble hypotheses, etc. - Format: Online (approximately 60 minutes) - Cost: Free for the first consultation - Recruitment: Limited to 5 companies *Please note that we will take sufficient care to respect the confidentiality of each company's information and will not disclose anything externally. We hope you can consult with us with confidence. This will be more of a space for open exchange of opinions between researchers and engineers rather than a sales proposal. If you have any themes you are currently considering, please feel free to reach out. If you are interested, please contact us with "Request for Technical Consultation," and we will provide you with further details.

Column: Where there is a god that discards, there is a god that picks up.

  • Other・notification

"There are gods who discard and gods who pick up." This was a phrase my father often used when we went to a model train shop that dealt in second-hand items. It is truly the case that gifts, which have continued to receive abnormally low evaluations even from antique dealers and recycling shops, have found their way to someone who genuinely wanted them, and it is indeed a joy, truly embodying the saying "there are gods who discard and gods who pick up." Column: Is it really true that you're busy? Is it something you should be promoting so much? (2)

  • Other・notification

Many university officials respond immediately with "I'm too busy with research to deal with this." Moreover, it's indefinite... It seems that there are many people in society who are convinced that "only I am busy." Especially, I am reminded of how many people think that someone like me, who is not making any profit at all = has no work = is just idly passing time. While it is true that I am not making any profit at all... However, what I need to be careful about is that I do not know what circumstances the other person might be hiding. Column: Sales Employees Who Are Completely Unable to Handle Non-Standard and Unexpected Situations

  • Other・notification

In the workforce, it is said that about 12% are in sales positions, which can be considered a relatively high ratio. At a company I used to belong to, employees in the sales department would celebrate even a slight increase in market share in a very niche industry, but they had no interest in applying their success to broader contexts, merely laughing condescendingly as if to say, "Your thinking is so rigid!" For example, imagine there are elementary school brothers where the one who scores better on the Japanese language test gets to eat three-quarters of a not-so-fancy chiffon cake from a candy store, while the one who scores worse gets one-quarter. Furthermore, if they score over 30 points on the math test, they would be allowed to eat an entire high-end tart topped with lots of fruit from the neighboring cake shop. What did the brothers do? Despite fiercely competing for scores between 90 and 100 in Japanese, they showed no interest in the high-end tart and consistently scored only between 10 and 20 in math, resulting in "never having eaten the high-end tart." The coating agent that was supposed to protect the artifacts has become the cause of rust!

  • Other・notification

It seems that in archaeology, it is widely practiced to protect metal artifacts with a resin coating agent, but surprisingly, if that coating agent decomposes, it can lead to oxidation and corrode the artifacts. Magazine meeting: Reacquainting with silsesquioxane.

  • Other・notification

This is a discussion about the relationship between the processing temperature, molecular structure, and physical properties such as dielectric constant of silsesquioxane. It seems that the newly synthesized silsesquioxane showed a decrease in both dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent as the processing temperature increased from 100°C to 200°C to 300°C. Column: What is a working adult?

  • Other・notification

What exactly is a "working adult"? Some definitions are not found in the dictionary. Even when they are, they can be quite vague. Are we not mistakenly thinking that being a working adult means being admirable or important? Do people follow a path from preschooler to child, to student, to student, to working adult, and then to non-working adult? Is being a working adult really that special among these stages? For more details, please see the link below.

Column: Is Regional Revitalization a Profitable Business?

  • Other・notification

Nowadays, there is a lot of talk about "regional revitalization" everywhere, but I wonder if, in reality, it might be more about "regional reproduction." Last month, I attended a small panel discussion. There, the discussion was centered around the idea of "large companies, let's invest in this new business of regional revitalization and profit together!" completely disregarding the actual existing residents and newcomers. Column: It's Fun to Create Your Own Laboratory!

  • Other・notification

When asked, "What do you do as a self-employed person?" I always respond, "I'm a suspicious technology consultant." Perhaps because I'm from the Kansai region, this answer tends to elicit laughter and creates a friendly atmosphere. There is a significant difference between me and many consultants out there. I have set up a laboratory within my company, where I not only talk but also actively engage in hands-on work. I aim to overcome concerns that consultants are often seen as merely speaking convincingly, leaving people unsure whether what they say is true or false, by utilizing the laboratory. Speaking of the laboratory, I have designed it based on my past experiences to suit my preferences. That's the story.
