WEINGÄRTNER, founded in 1965, is a pioneer of large machining centers based in Kirchham, Central Austria. The multi-purpose machining center, mpmc, which we are introducing this time, is capable of handling various applications such as power generation, aviation, railways, oil and gas, and general machining. We have a track record of delivering workpieces weighing 60 tons for power generation shafts and workpieces up to 11 meters long for marine crankshafts. With a welded steel plate structure for the integrated bed, it allows for heavy cutting and high-precision machining using high-rigidity, high-performance machines. According to customer needs, the workpiece length can be adjusted in increments of 1 meter, ranging from a minimum of 1 meter to a maximum of 20 meters, and it can accommodate a maximum workpiece diameter of up to 2.8 meters.

The screw machining machine, Pickup, which we are introducing this time, is a dedicated equipment specialized for screw processing such as injection molding machines, vacuum pumps, progressive cavity pumps, ball screws, and mixing machines. Due to its dedicated design, the machining cycle time is extremely fast, and the integrated bed made of welded steel plates provides high rigidity and high performance. The equipment can be designed for workpiece lengths ranging from a minimum of 1m to a maximum of 6m, with a maximum workpiece diameter of 180mm.

Gäuling's Non-Cylindrical Honing (FormHoning) Gäuling has developed a honing method that takes into account the distortion during engine operation, rather than manufacturing cylindrical bores. The distortion of the bore shape is countered by creating an inverted shape through the FormHoning method, maintaining a cylindrical shape even during operation. [Features] ■ FormHoning Light simulates the thermal distortion inside the bore during engine combustion and is a technology that intentionally hones the bore shape into various non-cylindrical shapes. ■ By processing the bore into a non-cylindrical shape with FormHoning Light, the contact between the piston skirt and the bore during combustion is reduced, thereby decreasing friction. ■ FormHoning Professional utilizes a special honing tool equipped with an expansion mechanism using piezo elements to optimize local piston clearance and reduce bore deformation caused by static and thermal distortion. This achieves a cylindrical bore without distortion even during engine combustion, reduces ring tension, and decreases friction resistance between the piston skirt and cylinder bore, as well as CO2 emissions.

It is possible to significantly improve productivity and processing accuracy while providing a simpler and clearer process sequence. The optimization of the servo axis allows for a compact axis configuration that ensures high precision and enables the creation of highly flexible programs. A hydrostatic spindle with high precision, rigidity, and damping characteristics is adopted. It can accommodate up to four fixtures simultaneously, thereby reducing cycle time. While maintaining excellent accessibility for maintenance and tool changes, the compact design minimizes the installation area. The main spindle reduces vibration through hydrostatic bearings and direct drive. With very compact machine dimensions (5340mm x 2670mm), it can be transported as a single unit.

ALFING GmbH in Germany has long been a leading manufacturer in the market for production equipment for connecting rods. Many manufacturing technologies, such as cracked connecting rods, were first mass-produced using ALFING machines. This technology is also applied to other components, such as crankshaft bearing caps or disc cams. **Features** Cracking of Connecting Rods A fracture initiation surface is created on the inner surface of the large end of the integrally formed connecting rod using laser light or machining, and it fractures under impact load. During reassembly, the fracture surfaces are aligned and tightened. Since shear loads are borne across the entire large fracture surface, the strength is significantly increased compared to the conventional reamer bolt method. Moreover, the need for high-precision finishing of bolt holes is eliminated, allowing the process to be consolidated to less than two-thirds, achieving significant cost reductions. Cracking of Bearing Caps Five bearing caps, integrally cast as a whole block, are simultaneously fractured. The cracking process is similar to that of connecting rods, resulting in significant strength improvements and cost reductions.

The EX series is a rotor and pump screw machining machine that has gained worldwide acclaim for its high speed, high precision, and unparalleled quality. The standard EX model can machine rotor or worm helix profiles on blanks with a maximum diameter of 850mm. We would like to introduce the BearingSter, a model focused on bearing work from the microfinish (super finishing) processing machines that THIELENHAUS, a German company, specializes in. Processing bearing grooves requires highly specialized knowledge and experience. The latest super finishing machine, BearingSter, designed and manufactured by Thielenhaus, which has over 80 years of experience as a supplier of specialized machine tools for super finishing, is already equipped with high levels of expertise and experience, allowing it to achieve stringent precision requirements without the need for complex tooling design.

We introduce the CenterSter model, which focuses on shaft work, from the 'Microfinish' processing machines manufactured by Thielenhaus in Germany. There are many parts that require strict precision and tolerances, not only in automotive steering and internal engine components but also in motors and electrical parts. By using the CenterSter after the grinding process, it becomes possible to meet these stringent specifications. It can accommodate not only outer diameter surfaces but also Gothic R profiles. The German company BURKHARDT+WEBER is a manufacturer of ultra-large machining centers that did not previously exist. Until now, the processing of large complex parts has been done using dedicated machines for each process (such as horizontal boring mills, fine boring machines, vertical lathes, and gear cutting machines), but by using large horizontal machining centers, process consolidation can be achieved, ensuring accuracy becomes easier, and 24-hour unmanned operation is possible.

The GBA203 is a grinding machine specifically designed for threading or forming taps. It is a grinding machine for mass production of straight taps or spiral taps. Specially developed for tap mass production, it achieves high productivity and precision through a stable machine structure designed based on FEM analysis.

SMS (SMS) was founded in 1995 and is a machine manufacturer specializing in screw grinding, located in Alpstadt near Stuttgart in southern Germany. In its early days, the main business was the overhaul of mechanical screw grinding machines from Reishauer and Klingelnberg, as well as CNC retrofitting. The German company PRÄWEMA is a specialist group in gear processing. The DVS Technology Group, to which PRÄWEMA belongs, is engaged in the manufacturing of machine tools, automation, tooling, jig design and production, as well as contract gear processing services. The SynchroFine power honing and synchronous gear honing machine is composed of all units in a compact design. The direct drive tool spindle and workpiece spindle do not require mechanical transmission elements such as toothed belts or gears, ensuring backlash-free drive. SynchroFine comes standard with a self-loading unit and handling unit. Workpieces are fed into the machine via conveyors and other means. Simple manual loading is also possible. Since the completion of the first 4-spindle/5-axis controlled turbine blade machining center, MULTIMILL, in 1985, the company has specialized all its production models for machining turbine blades, blisks, and impellers, continuing to this day. This machine is suitable for rough and finish machining of complex shapes, mold making in propeller and turbine blade factories, and manufacturing of aircraft engine parts (integrated parts). The unique arrangement of each axis has been designed to meet the different dynamic requirements of each axis through optimal mass distribution. The mass is minimized on the axis with the greatest dynamic demand. Furthermore, when pivoting the milling spindle, the adjustment of the linear axis to achieve the same contact point on the workpiece is minimized. The FLEXTURN vertical turning and milling composite processing machine is a highly flexible machine with a compact cell-type design, yet it possesses high machine rigidity. UNIMILL is a large vertical gantry-type milling machine. The maximum column distance of the machine is approximately 14m, and the table width is around 12m. It is also possible to install two independent areas on the floor table (with optional movable covers for the machining area and work setup area), providing flexibility for automatic accessory and tool changes. It is actively used for machining large components such as power generation turbines, tunnel boring machines, and mining equipment.

The AY series with a movable table has a maximum workpiece diameter of 14m. It employs static pressure bearings on all axes. It features a static pressure bearing table capable of supporting a maximum workpiece weight of 500t, and can perform heavy cutting with a maximum power of 300kw.

The AS series with a single column specification has a maximum workpiece diameter of 18m. It consists of a machine base with a spindle and table gearbox, a single column with slideways for a movable cross rail, and a table base (which can also be a parallel moving type as an option), making it a machine that combines stability and rigidity.

The AP series with a double column design has a maximum workpiece diameter of 14m. It features a rigid machine structure with the columns positioned on the table base that houses the spindle and gearbox. The horizontal slide guide on the front of the cross rail supports the vertical ram saddle through its horizontal movement (utilizing static pressure pockets).

We handle grinding wheels that combine "Carbon wheel-hubs and DIA & CBN grinding stones" manufactured by MACH-ROTEC (Austria). These grinding wheels feature a body made of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), which is lightweight at one-tenth the weight of conventional metal wheels and has ten times better vibration damping, allowing for reduced grinding time.
