WEINGÄRTNER, founded in 1965, is a pioneer of large machining centers based in Kirchham, Central Austria. The multi-purpose machining center, mpmc, which we are introducing this time, is capable of handling various applications such as power generation, aviation, railways, oil and gas, and general machining. We have a track record of delivering workpieces weighing 60 tons for power generation shafts and workpieces up to 11 meters long for marine crankshafts. With a welded steel plate structure for the integrated bed, it allows for heavy cutting and high-precision machining using high-rigidity, high-performance machines. According to customer needs, the workpiece length can be adjusted in increments of 1 meter, ranging from a minimum of 1 meter to a maximum of 20 meters, and it can accommodate a maximum workpiece diameter of up to 2.8 meters.

Gäuling's Non-Cylindrical Honing (FormHoning) Gäuling has developed a honing method that takes into account the distortion during engine operation, rather than manufacturing cylindrical bores. The distortion of the bore shape is countered by creating an inverted shape through the FormHoning method, maintaining a cylindrical shape even during operation. [Features] ■ FormHoning Light simulates the thermal distortion inside the bore during engine combustion and is a technology that intentionally hones the bore shape into various non-cylindrical shapes. ■ By processing the bore into a non-cylindrical shape with FormHoning Light, the contact between the piston skirt and the bore during combustion is reduced, thereby decreasing friction. ■ FormHoning Professional utilizes a special honing tool equipped with an expansion mechanism using piezo elements to optimize local piston clearance and reduce bore deformation caused by static and thermal distortion. This achieves a cylindrical bore without distortion even during engine combustion, reduces ring tension, and decreases friction resistance between the piston skirt and cylinder bore, as well as CO2 emissions.

It is possible to significantly improve productivity and processing accuracy while providing a simpler and clearer process sequence. The optimization of the servo axis allows for a compact axis configuration that ensures high precision and enables the creation of highly flexible programs. ALFING / Connecting Rod Splitting Device

ALFING GmbH in Germany has long been a leading manufacturer in the market for production equipment for connecting rods. Many manufacturing technologies, such as cracked connecting rods, were first mass-produced using ALFING machines. This technology is also applied to other components, such as crankshaft bearing caps or disc cams. **Features** Cracking of Connecting Rods A fracture initiation surface is created on the inner surface of the large end of the integrally formed connecting rod using laser light or machining, and it fractures under impact load. During reassembly, the fracture surfaces are aligned and tightened. Since shear loads are borne across the entire large fracture surface, the strength is significantly increased compared to the conventional reamer bolt method. Moreover, the need for high-precision finishing of bolt holes is eliminated, allowing the process to be consolidated to less than two-thirds, achieving significant cost reductions. Cracking of Bearing Caps Five bearing caps, integrally cast as a whole block, are simultaneously fractured. The cracking process is similar to that of connecting rods, resulting in significant strength improvements and cost reductions.
