[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Teikoku Theatre Building

The red rust issue in the piping that occurred 21 years ago has been completely resolved! No leaks have occurred, and the piping condition has been maintained in good shape.

The heat source equipment of the Imperial Theatre uses steam boilers and turbo chillers, and since the theatre dislikes noise, the heat source is installed six floors underground. Additionally, most of the piping is located within concrete, making pipe renewal work extremely difficult. To improve the current situation where significant deterioration due to red rust in the piping has progressed after 34 years since its construction in 2000, the "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed to convert red rust to black rust and rehabilitate the piping. As of 2021, 21 years later, all issues related to red rust in the piping have been resolved, and there is almost no iron content from red rust in the circulating air conditioning chilled and hot water. Since the installation of this product, there has been no leakage at all, maintaining an extremely good condition of the piping. 【Effects After Installation】 ■ All issues related to red rust in the piping that existed 21 years ago have been resolved. ■ There is almost no iron content from red rust in the circulating air conditioning chilled and hot water. ■ There has been no leakage at all, maintaining an extremely good condition of the piping. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Shinjuku Famous Bookstore Building

19 months after installation, all red rust has turned to black rust! The air conditioning hot and cold water pipes can be used as long as the building remains standing.

The air conditioning chilled and hot water piping installed throughout the famous bookstore building in Shinjuku was at risk of deterioration due to red rust. In 2005, 41 years after its construction, a "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed on a 200A diameter pipe before the heat source pump to prevent the deterioration of red rust in the piping and convert it to black rust, thereby extending the lifespan of the piping to match the lifespan of the building. In April 2007, 19 months after installation, a branch pipe with a diameter of 32A from the air conditioning chilled and hot water piping was removed to check the condition of the red rust inside the piping, and it was found that all the red rust had converted to black rust. 【Overview of Installation】 ■ Location: Shinjuku, Tokyo ■ Year of Completion: 1964 ■ Pipe Material: Galvanized Steel Pipe ■ Air Conditioning Method: Central System (Warm Water Piping) ■ Installation Work: 2005 *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results: Fenchurch Building

Nine days after installation, the iron concentration dramatically decreased to 0.5 mg/l! A case proving the rehabilitation of pipes through the black rusting of red rust.

The hot water supply piping in this office building uses galvanized steel pipes (SGP pipes) as the piping material, and serious red water due to corrosion deterioration occurred throughout the building. According to water quality tests, the iron content in the hot water supply in the early morning was high at 5.2 mg/l, so a "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed to prevent red rust and extend the life of the hot water piping. In the water quality test conducted nine days after installation, the iron content dramatically decreased to 0.5 mg/l, and even 43 days after installation, the iron content remained low at 0.5 mg/l. [Effects After Installation] ■ In the water quality test nine days after installation, the iron content dramatically decreased to 0.5 mg/l. ■ In the water quality test 43 days after installation, the iron content remained low at 0.5 mg/l. ■ The leaching of red rust into the water stopped, proving the rehabilitation of the piping through the black rust formation. ■ By preventing external corrosion, the piping became usable as long as the building remains standing. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Commercial Facility #M

Preventing the progression of red rust! A case where the amount of black rust in rust increased to 48.2% after 10 months of installation.

At that time, the facility had been in operation for 43 years, and there were significant concerns about the corrosion of the cooling water piping. As a countermeasure, we adopted the "NMR Pipe Protector." Before the installation of this product, the amount of black rust in the rust was 2.0%, but after 10 months of installation, it increased to 48.2%, which is a relative increase of 2410%. The prevention of red rust progression and the rehabilitation of piping due to black rust have been demonstrated. In the future, if all the red rust in the rust turns into black rust, this piping will not require replacement as long as external corrosion does not occur. [Introduction Overview] ■ Location: Sapporo City, Hokkaido ■ Building Overview: 43 years old, 3 basement floors, 10 above-ground floors, commercial facility ■ Installation Date: February 4, 2019 ■ Installed Piping: CT-5 system cooling tower secondary side cooling water piping (SGP pipe 200mm) ■ Number of Units Installed: PT-200DS × 1 unit *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Major Automobile Manufacturer Factory in Fukuoka Prefecture

The amount of black rust increased significantly from 4% to 43.6%! A case where line stoppage was completely prevented.

In August 1998, an "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed in the cooling water circulation piping of the welding robot cooling line located within a major automobile manufacturer’s factory in Fukuoka Prefecture to prevent red rust scale. Before installation, red rust from the cooling water piping would leach out, entering the narrow cooling tubes of the body welding robots, causing blockages that resulted in the welding robots stopping, which took over 15 minutes to recover. Nine months after installation, the cooling water piping was inspected, and the amount of black rust compared to the red rust before installation increased significantly from 4% to 43.6%. Additionally, line stoppages were completely prevented. [Challenges] ■ Red rust leaching from the internal cooling water piping ■ Entry into the narrow cooling tubes of the body welding robots, causing blockages ■ Recovery from welding robot stoppages taking over 15 minutes ■ Damage costs exceeding 6 million yen per incident *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Verification Results] Christ's College, University of Cambridge

Red rust is reduced to a strong passive black rust! A proven case of protection and prolongation of pipes.

The university's air conditioning hot water piping has been plagued by issues related to internal red rust, and although a sacrificial anode was introduced in 2008 as a countermeasure, the progression of red rust did not stop. Additionally, a rust inhibitor was administered once a year, but there was no change in the iron content in the water before and after the use of the rust inhibitor, raising concerns about its effects on human health. Therefore, in order to remove red rust and single-celled bacteria while maintaining the strength of the piping, an "NMR Pipe Protector PT-75DS" was installed in the air conditioning hot water piping (return pipe) of the Todd Building on campus. The iron content in the water, which was 43.81 mg/l before installation, decreased to 17.95 mg/l three weeks after installation. [Challenges] ■ Although a sacrificial anode was introduced, the progression of red rust did not stop. ■ A rust inhibitor was administered once a year, but there was no change in the iron content in the water before and after its use, and there were concerns about its effects on human health. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Piping with a statutory useful life of 15 years has been extended by 40 years! Maintaining the condition of the piping without red rust deterioration until 55 years of age.

In this property, galvanized steel pipes (SGP) are used for the water supply piping, and at 35 years old, the pipes were diagnosed to have a lifespan of only 2 months due to frequent leaks and the occurrence of red water. To prevent red rust and extend the life of the pipes, an "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed. In the water quality test before installation, the iron content was 0.5 mg/l, and there was a significant occurrence of red water. However, six days after installation, the iron content dropped to below 0.05 mg/l, and the red water was completely resolved. Subsequently, water quality tests conducted 14 years and 20 years after installation showed that red rust had completely disappeared, and new leaks were entirely prevented, proving the rehabilitation of the piping. [Effects After Installation] ■ Water quality test six days after installation showed iron content below 0.05 mg/l, and red water was completely resolved. ■ Water quality tests 14 years and 20 years after installation showed that red rust had completely disappeared. ■ New leaks were entirely prevented, proving the rehabilitation of the piping. ■ Pipes with a statutory useful life of 15 years were extended by 40 years, maintaining a condition free from red rust deterioration until 55 years old. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Measures to prevent red rust and leakage in hot water supply piping! Usable for 100 years or 200 years as long as the building exists!

At Whittington Hospital, galvanized steel pipes (SGP) had been used for hot water piping for over 30 years, resulting in the daily occurrence of dark red water and concerns about leaks. Before the installation of the "NMR Pipe Protector," the iron content in the hot water was very high at 7.33 mg/l, and the deterioration of red rust in the pipes was quite advanced. However, after 19 days post-installation, the iron content in the hot water decreased to 0.388 mg/l. After 29 days post-installation, it further reduced to 0.077 mg/l, which is 1/100 of the initial value, completely preventing the deterioration of red rust. It was proven that the red rust in the pipes transformed into insoluble and passive black rust in water at a volume of 1/10. [Effects After Installation] - After 19 days post-installation, the iron content in the hot water decreased to 0.388 mg/l. - After 29 days post-installation, it further reduced to 0.077 mg/l, completely preventing the deterioration of red rust. - By preventing external corrosion, this piping can be used for 100 years or even 200 years as long as the building remains standing. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)

The anti-corrosion effect inside the piping lasts for one year! By protecting the inside of the piping, the lifespan of the piping is extended to match the lifespan of the building.

The 250th branch, located in the Bishops Gate area of London, which was built 18 years ago, had issues with red rust deterioration in its air conditioning system. To address the red rust in the piping, a rust inhibitor was being used, but there were environmental concerns. On March 23, 2018, "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed in the air conditioning hot water piping. One year after installation, the bank conducted its own follow-up survey, which showed that the iron content was at a very low level of 0.03 mg/l, confirming that the rust prevention effect in the piping persisted after one year. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that by continuing to use this product in the future, red rust would be reduced to a stable black rust, protecting the piping and extending its lifespan to match that of the building. [Effects After Installation] - Six weeks after installation, the iron content in the water was measured under the same conditions as before installation, showing a decrease from 1.1 mg/l to 0.41 mg/l. - One year after installation, the iron content was at a very low level of 0.03 mg/l. - It was demonstrated that protecting the piping would extend its lifespan to match that of the building. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Red rust is converted into black rust with one-tenth the volume! A case where the red rust problem was solved by implementing it for less than one-twentieth of the cost.

This property is 12 years old and uses vinyl-lined steel pipes (VLP) for the water supply pipe joints. The estimated cost for future renovation work to replace them with stainless steel pipes as a measure against future red rust blockage is expected to exceed 100 million yen per building. Additionally, when measuring the red rust blockage rate at the dissimilar metal joints of the kitchen water supply pipes in two units, the rates were found to be 77.5% and 37.3%. By introducing the "NMR Pipe Protector" at a cost of less than one-twentieth of that, the red rust issue was resolved. After 12 months of installation, the red rust blockage rates significantly decreased to 60.0% and 31.0%, and prevention of red rust and the occurrence of black rust were confirmed. [Effects After Installation] - After 12 months of installation, the red rust blockage rates significantly decreased to 60.0% and 31.0%, confirming the prevention of red rust and the occurrence of black rust. - After 27 months of installation, it was confirmed that the red rust had transformed into black rust, with a volume reduction to one-tenth, showing rates of 58.5% and 23.3%. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Buckingham Palace

Verification of the rust prevention effect of NMR pipe protector at Buckingham Palace in the UK! The iron ion concentration decreased significantly from 16.6 mg/L to 0.455 mg/L.

At Buckingham Palace, galvanized steel pipes (SGP pipes) are used for the air conditioning hot water piping and hot water supply piping, and some of the piping was updated due to deterioration from red rust. However, since most of the piping has not been updated, "NMR Pipe Protectors" were installed in both the air conditioning hot water piping and hot water supply piping to prevent red rust deterioration and extend the life of the piping. Water samples were taken from the circulating hot water before and after installation, and the reduction in iron ion levels in the water was used to verify the effectiveness of rust prevention. As a result, before installation, the iron content in the water of the air conditioning hot water piping was 16.6 mg/l, but after 24 days post-installation, it significantly decreased to 0.455 mg/l. 【Introduction Overview】 ■ Building Name: Buckingham Palace ■ Location: London ■ Building Overview: Completed in 1703, 304 years old, 775 rooms ■ Installation Date: January 12, 2007 ■ Installed Piping/Number of Installations: Air conditioning hot water piping/PT-100DS×1 unit, circulating hot water piping/PT-50DS×1 unit, circulating hot water piping/PT-30DS×1 unit *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Preventing the leaching of red rust in the hospital's air conditioning chilled and hot water piping and demonstrating rust prevention effectiveness!

At Hospital #H, which was built 48 years ago, the air conditioning chilled and warm water piping using galvanized steel pipes (SGP) has shown significant deterioration due to red rust, leading to leaks. Therefore, we installed the red rust prevention piping extension device "NMR Pipe Protector." Before installation, we sampled the circulating chilled and warm water from the air conditioning system, revealing a total iron concentration of 2.5 mg/l, indicating that red rust corrosion was progressing within the pipes. Four weeks after the installation of our product, a subsequent water sample showed a significant reduction in total iron concentration in the chilled and warm water to 0.4 mg/l. A water sample taken six years after installation showed the total iron concentration further decreased to 0.2 mg/l, completely halting the progression of new red rust within the air conditioning chilled water pipes. The existing red rust had transformed into an insoluble, passive black rust with a volume reduced to one-tenth. Verification of rust reduction in chilled water of air conditioning systems for anti-corrosion effectiveness! Case study on measures to prevent leaks and extend the lifespan of air conditioning piping!

At Hospital #I, due to the significant deterioration of red rust in the air conditioning chilled and hot water piping, which uses galvanized steel pipes (SGP) that are 19 years old, we installed a red rust prevention piping extension device called "NMR Pipe Protector" to prevent leaks. Before the installation of this product, we sampled the circulating air conditioning chilled and hot water, and found that the total iron content in the water was very high at 5.1 mg/l due to red rust, indicating that corrosion from red rust in the piping was quite advanced. Three weeks after the installation, a sample of the air conditioning chilled and hot water showed that the total iron content in the water had decreased to less than 0.03 mg/l, completely halting the progression of new red rust in the air conditioning chilled and hot water. It was demonstrated that the red rust that had been present in the piping had transformed into insoluble black rust, which is 1/10th the volume of the original. If Hospital #I continues to use this product, the air conditioning chilled and hot water piping will no longer require updates in the future, and costs will be reduced to less than 1/10th, extending the lifespan of the building. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Water Supply Pipe in Binh Phuc Province, Vietnam

The red rust inside the cast iron water supply pipe has turned into black rust! It has been proven that the leaching of red rust into the water has been completely prevented.

In the Huong Canh area of the Water Supply Bureau in Binh Phuc Province, Vietnam, cast iron pipes (150A) have been in use for 15 years, leading to the progression of red rust corrosion inside the pipes, which resulted in the regular occurrence of red water. To address this red water issue, a red rust prevention device called the "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed at the base of the cast iron water supply pipes (150A). Before installation, the water color and the amount of red rust at the sampling points located 500m north, 300m west, and 600m south of the installation site were as follows: the northern point had a light brown color with 7.0 mg/l of red rust, the western point had a brown color with 8.0 mg/l, and the southern point had a dark brown color with 23 mg/l. Two weeks after installation, the northern point showed a lighter color and a reduction in red rust to 4.6 mg/l. The western point nearly lost its color, decreasing to 2.0 mg/l. The southern point changed to a light brown color with a reduction to 12 mg/l. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Shepparton Film Studio

Installed to prevent red rust in the hot water piping! Existing red rust transforms into black rust, which is inert and does not dissolve in water.

Shepperton Film Studios (Hotel) is a historic filming studio located in Surrey, on the outskirts of London. The first building was constructed in 1689, and after suffering a fire, it was rebuilt in 1902 and later renovated in 1936 to serve as a hotel for film actors. There was an issue with red rust in the plumbing, but plumbing work could not be done as it would affect the appearance of the building, which is registered as a Grade II cultural heritage site. Therefore, the NMR Pipe Protector PT-30DS was installed in the hot water plumbing to prevent red rust without affecting the building's exterior. In the men's restroom, where galvanized steel pipes are used, the iron content in the water of the hot water plumbing was 20 mg/l before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, but it decreased to 0.37 mg/l after 10 weeks of installation. In the first-floor kitchen, the iron content reduced from 14.5 mg/l before installation to 0.386 mg/l after 10 weeks. From the above, it can be concluded that the occurrence of new red rust in the hot water plumbing has been completely prevented, and the existing red rust has transformed into black rust, which is passive and insoluble in water, thereby proving the rust prevention effectiveness of the NMR Pipe Protector.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Izu Ohni Country Club

The progress of red rust completely stopped just one month after installation! A case where the discoloration of the filter also decreased!

This property has been in existence for 33 years, and due to significant red rust blockage at the joints of the water supply pipes made of different metals, we adopted the pipe rehabilitation device "NMR Pipe Protector." Before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, a white filter was attached to the kitchen sink water supply faucet for seven days, during which the filter became discolored brown due to red rust generated in the water supply pipes. After dissolving the captured iron content with purified water and measuring the iron concentration, it was found that the iron level in the water was 21 mg/l, indicating that the red rust corrosion in the pipes was quite advanced. One month after installation, a white filter was attached under the same conditions as before, and it was confirmed that the filter's discoloration had reduced to light brown, with the iron concentration decreasing significantly to 5.8 mg/l. Additionally, six months after installation, a white filter was again attached under the same conditions, and it was confirmed that the filter's discoloration had nearly returned to white, with the iron concentration further decreasing significantly to 0.75 mg/l. From this, it can be concluded that just one month after the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the progression of red rust was completely halted, and at the same time, the surface of the red rust in the water supply pipes transformed into a non-soluble black rust, resulting in a reduction of iron leaching into the water and a decrease in filter discoloration.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] St. Ignatius Church

A case where it was confirmed that the red rust inside the piping is in a good condition and not dissolving in water!

St. Ignatius Church, also known as the Catholic Kojimachi Church, is a historic church adjacent to Sophia University that has existed since before the war. Four years ago, it was found that the red rust deterioration in the air conditioning chilled and hot water piping, which is 19 years old, was progressing. Therefore, an evaluation of the rust prevention effect of the "NMR Pipe Protector," a red rust prevention extension device, was conducted. Before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, a sample of the circulating chilled and hot water was taken, revealing that the water was brownish in color. Water quality testing detected a total iron concentration of 240 mg/l, indicating significant progression of red rust corrosion within the piping. After installing the NMR Pipe Protector, a water sample was tested two weeks later, showing that the water had become almost clear, with the total iron concentration due to red rust reduced to 2.7 mg/l, a significant decrease. At the same time that the progression of red rust was halted, the surface red rust within the chilled and hot water piping and the red rust in the water transformed into inert black rust that does not dissolve in water. This provided verification of the rust prevention effect of the NMR Pipe Protector within the chilled and hot water piping. This result was featured in an article published on July 18, 2018, in issue 2737 of "Air Conditioning Times," which reported on the verification of the rust prevention effect of the NMR Pipe Protector at St. Ignatius Church.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] British Museum

Existing red rust is reduced to black rust! An example where air conditioning hot water piping can be used as long as the building exists!

The British Museum in London is one of the most famous museums in the world, housing over 8 million works of art, of which 150,000 are displayed in succession. The museum is 264 years old and has issues with red rust sludge in its air conditioning hot water piping. To prevent damage to the artworks caused by leaks in the piping, it was necessary to protect the pipes. Therefore, the "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed, which does not require cutting the pipes and protects them from leaks and red water caused by red rust, allowing the pipes to be safeguarded for over 40 years. Before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the iron content in the water was 20 mg/l, but one week after installation, the iron content decreased to 12.2 mg/l. It continued to decrease, and it was confirmed that the iron content had reduced to 0.2 mg/l five weeks after installation. As a result, new red rust corrosion in the pipes was completely halted, and the existing red rust was reduced to black rust, proving that the pipes were protected. Thanks to the effectiveness of the NMR Pipe Protector, the air conditioning hot water piping can be used for as long as the building exists.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Palace of Westminster

The new occurrence of red rust inside the piping has completely stopped, and the existing red rust has turned into black rust!

The Palace of Westminster is currently used as the UK Parliament and is one of the most famous buildings in the UK. It is located on the banks of the River Thames in central London and is a building over 150 years old that was rebuilt around 1860. In one of the several buildings (the Guard Room), the air conditioning hot water piping was severely corroded due to red rust. To prevent the occurrence of new red rust in this piping system, one "NMR Pipe Protector PT-75DS" was installed in the air conditioning hot water piping on the secondary side of the boiler. The iron content in the water before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector was 3.9 mg/l, but it decreased to 2.38 mg/l 34 days after installation. It was confirmed that 59 days after installation, the iron content in the water had decreased to 1.48 mg/l, which is less than half of the pre-installation value. This result demonstrated that the occurrence of new red rust in the piping had completely stopped, and the existing red rust had turned into black rust, which does not dissolve in water and protects the piping with a corrosion-resistant layer. With the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the air conditioning hot water piping can now be used semi-permanently as long as the building remains standing.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)

Verification of rust prevention effects in the air conditioning piping of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)! Preventing the occurrence of new red rust and converting existing red rust to black rust, demonstrating the extension of piping lifespan.

At the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), which has been in operation for 53 years, the use of SGP pipes in the cooling water piping has led to frequent leaks and a very serious state of red rust deterioration in the piping. To prevent leaks caused by red rust deterioration and to extend the life of the piping, four "NMR Pipe Protectors" were installed in the cooling water systems of the Main Block Building and Stage 5 Building. In the Main Block Building, the iron content in the water before the installation of the product was 5.53 mg/l, but it significantly decreased to 0.048 mg/l after 32 days of installation, and further decreased to 0.06 mg/l after 57 days. In Stage 5 Building, the iron content in the water before installation was 3.8 mg/l, which decreased to 0.063 mg/l after 32 days and to 0.008 mg/l after 57 days. Additionally, there have been no occurrences of leaks after installation. The prevention of new red rust formation and the transformation of existing red rust in the piping to insoluble black rust in the water have resulted in a reduction of iron content, demonstrating that this cooling water piping can be extended to the lifespan of the building. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Nursing Facility #HO

The red rust inside the water supply pipe has transformed into hard crystalline black rust with a volume reduction of 1/10! The rehabilitation of the piping due to the black rust formation from red rust has been confirmed!

This nursing facility had experienced significant deterioration due to red rust in the water supply and hot water supply pipes. Therefore, when the building was 25 years old, a red rust prevention device called the "NMR Pipe Protector" was installed in the water supply pipe on the secondary side of the rooftop water tank and in the hot water supply pipe on the secondary side of the boiler. Before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the iron ion concentration in the water supply was 2.27 mg/l, and the color degree was 20, indicating severe deterioration due to red rust in the pipes. Four weeks after the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the iron ion concentration in the water dropped to 0.46 mg/l, and the color degree improved to 5, showing a significant improvement in water quality. Furthermore, the water quality test results 12 weeks after installation showed that the iron ion concentration was 0.03 mg/l, and the color degree was less than 0.5. The red rust in the water supply pipe had transformed into hard crystalline black rust with a volume reduction of 1/10, stopping the leaching of red rust into the water. The rehabilitation of the pipes due to the black rust formation was confirmed. This demonstrated that if the use of the NMR Pipe Protector continues, both the water supply and hot water supply pipes can be extended to the lifespan of the building.

Our factory was experiencing a situation where the line stopped every month (20 times/year) due to strong calcium scale adhering inside the pump, causing internal damage and requiring disassembly and cleaning. After the installation of the "Non-Scaler," there have been no line stoppages for over six months. Upon checking the scale condition inside the pump casing, it was found to be soft and in fine particle form, rather than forming strong calcium scale. By preventing damage to the pump caused by calcium scale, we have not only avoided line stoppages but also achieved significant reductions in maintenance costs. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Non-scaler introduction case: Cooling tower

A case of preventing the adhesion of calcium scale that adheres to the outer cooling fins of a cooling tower.

The cooling water used in open-type central air conditioning cooling towers has its calcium concentration rise to about 7 to 10 times that of the make-up water (source water) due to evaporation, resulting in the formation of hard calcium carbonate crystals on the surface of the cooling fins outside the cooling tower, which reduces cooling efficiency. The non-scaler, when installed in the make-up water piping, transforms dissolved calcium hydroxide in the water into calcium carbonate nanoparticles, dispersing them in the water and preventing calcium from solidifying and adhering to the cooling fins of the cooling tower. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Non-Scaler Introduction Case Study] Major Chemical Plant

Prevention of calcium scale adhesion and cooling efficiency in heat exchangers! A case study that reduced the frequency of line stoppages due to pump disassembly and cleaning once every 1.2 months.

The heat exchanger at the chemical plant was subject to calcium scale buildup, necessitating disassembly, cleaning, and washing every five months. When scale accumulated on the heat exchanger, it reduced cooling efficiency and negatively impacted product quality. After installing a "non-scaler" following the cleaning of the heat exchanger, there was no calcium carbonate buildup on the hot water piping even after five months, resulting in maximum cooling effectiveness of the cooling water and maintaining the lowest defect rate for products. Additionally, the need to stop the plant every five months to scrape off calcium carbonate from the outside of the hot water piping was eliminated, leading to a reduction in product defect rates and an improvement in productivity. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[NMR Pipe Protector] Effectiveness Demonstrated through X-ray Inspection | Hokkaido Condominium

Effectiveness demonstrated by X-ray inspection of the water supply pipes in the condominium 19 years after the installation of the NMR pipe protector.

Nineteen years after the installation of the NMR pipe protector, an inspection was conducted by the condominium management association of a 9-story, 110-unit building in Sapporo, Hokkaido, when the building was 32 years old. They commissioned an external investigation company to examine the condition of red rust deterioration at the water supply pipe joints. Ten locations were selected within the pipe space of the water supply pipes (pipe diameters 25A to 65A) from the 1st to the 9th floor, and a non-destructive inspection using X-rays was performed on the joint areas. The results of the X-ray inspection showed that out of the ten locations, eight had no signs of red rust deterioration at the pipe joints. The other two locations showed only slight traces of corrosion, which were estimated to have occurred before the installation of the NMR pipe protector. This demonstrated that the red rust deterioration of the water supply pipes in this condominium had been completely prevented. Although the NMR pipe protector cannot prevent corrosion on the outside of the pipes, slight external corrosion was observed. However, by preventing external corrosion with anti-rust coatings, both the exterior and interior can be preserved. *Images and inspection results are quoted from a report by a certain industrial inspection agency. [NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Fukuoka Prefecture Condominium

After 16 years of installation, the effectiveness verification shows a reduction in red rust blockage rate from 50.7% to 41.2%, an improvement of 18.7%! This demonstrates the effectiveness of red rust prevention and pipe lifespan extension.

A follow-up survey was conducted in a condominium in Fukuoka Prefecture, 16 years after the installation of the NMR pipe protector. Before installation, the joints of the water supply pipes in Rooms A and B were inspected with a fiberscope, revealing red rust blockage rates of 50.7% and 78.2%, respectively, indicating significant progression of red rust blockage and the need for early intervention. Consequently, the NMR pipe protector was installed in the water supply piping. One year after installation, a follow-up survey was conducted under the same conditions as before installation, and the red rust blockage rates for Rooms A and B were as follows: [One Year After Installation] Room A: 50.7% → 48% [5.3%] reduction improvement Room B: 78.2% → 74.1% [5.2%] reduction improvement [Sixteen Years After Installation] Room A: 50.7% → 41.2% [18.7%] reduction improvement Room B: 78.2% → 68.4% [12.5%] reduction improvement From the above reduction improvement rates in red rust blockage, it was demonstrated that the NMR pipe protector completely prevented the occurrence of new red rust and that the red rust blockage transformed into black rust with a volume reduction to one-tenth. Additionally, it was proven that as long as this condominium remains standing for another 20 or 30 years, pipe replacement will not be necessary.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Lions Mansion Koshigaya North

Proving rust prevention effects through an effectiveness evaluation 10 years after installation!

This property has been in existence for 30 years, and there has been significant red rust blockage at the water supply pipe joints. Therefore, the red rust prevention device "NMR Pipe Protector" was adopted. When measuring the red rust blockage in the water supply pipes of Room A and Room B, it was found that before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, Room A had a blockage rate of 43.2% and Room B had a rate of 50.9%. 【Red Rust Blockage Rate One Year After Installation】 Room A: 41.7% Room B: 50.6% 【Red Rust Blockage Rate Five Years After Installation】 Room A: 39.7% Room B: 49.8%, confirming a reduction improvement rate of 8.1% and 2.1% respectively compared to before installation. 【Red Rust Blockage Rate Ten Years After Installation】 Room A: decreased to 36.8% Room B: decreased to 37.5%, showing a significant reduction in red rust of 48% for Room A and 26.3% for Room B compared to before installation. From these results, it has been demonstrated that the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector has halted the progression of red rust deterioration in the pipes, and the existing red rust has been reduced to black rust with a volume of less than 1/10, proving the effectiveness of pipe rehabilitation and red rust prevention.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Moseley Hospital (NHS)

Prevent red rust and leaks in the hot water piping of Moseley Hospital!

Moseley Hospital has two independent hot water systems: one connected to the storage tank and the other connected to the hot water header, with galvanized steel pipes used in the hot water piping. As a result, NMR pipe protectors were installed in the storage tank piping and the hot water header piping to prevent red rust corrosion and leaks in both hot water systems. Water samples were taken from the hot water piping at five locations, and the average iron content in the water was calculated. Before the installation of the NMR pipe protectors, the average value was 13.824 mg/l. After 15 weeks of installation, it decreased to 1.3882 mg/l; after 31 weeks, it further decreased to 0.4762 mg/l; and after 49 weeks, it reached 0.3428 mg/l, showing a significant reduction. This result demonstrated that the NMR pipe protectors prevented the formation of new red rust within the pipes and reduced existing red rust to black rust, which is insoluble in water and has a volume that is one-tenth of that of red rust. It has been proven that by continuing to install NMR pipe protectors, the hot water piping will transform 100% of the red rust within the pipes into black rust, thereby extending the lifespan of the building.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Windsor Castle

Preventing red rust deterioration of the hot water piping at Windsor Castle in the UK!

The hot water supply pipes used in Windsor Castle, owned by the British royal family and with a history of 900 years, utilize SGP pipes. To prevent red rust deterioration and extend the lifespan of the pipes, an NMR Pipe Protector was installed on January 24, 2007. Before the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, the iron content in the water in Room 107 was 3.32 mg/l, but 42 days after installation, it dropped to 0.007 mg/l. Additionally, the average iron content from two other sampling locations was 4.255 mg/l before installation, but decreased to 0.0105 mg/l after installation. This is significantly lower than the drinking water quality standard set by the UK, which is 0.2 mg/l. As a result, it has been demonstrated that the NMR Pipe Protector effectively prevents the occurrence of new red rust within the pipes and transforms existing red rust into black rust, which does not dissolve in water. By continuing to use the NMR Pipe Protector, the hot water supply pipes have completely eliminated internal red rust deterioration and, by preventing external corrosion, have become usable for as long as the building remains standing.

Effect of the calcium scale solidification adhesion prevention device "Non-Scaler"

The calcium scale prevention device "Non-Scaler" solves the calcium scaling problem in hot water boilers without using ion exchange resins or strong alkaline agents.

Calcium scale inevitably adheres to the interior of hot water boilers and similar equipment. To reduce the adhesion of calcium scale, traditionally, ion exchange resins have been used to soften the water by removing calcium ions before producing hot water in the boiler. The residual calcium in the water crystallizes as insoluble calcium carbonate within the boiler and adheres to it. Traditionally, strong alkaline agents were added to the boiler to prevent the formation reaction of calcium carbonate. However, strong alkaline hot water is highly corrosive to metals, leading to corrosion and deterioration of the boiler itself, internal piping, and hot water piping, which shortens the lifespan of the boiler and connected piping systems to around 10 years. The calcium scale prevention device "Non-Scaler" reacts the calcium in the water with free carbon dioxide within the Non-Scaler, forcibly transforming it into fine particles of calcium carbonate that are dispersed and flow in the water. Once calcium carbonate is converted into fine particles, it remains unchanged even under the high temperature and pressure conditions inside the boiler, flowing in its particulate state. Additionally, the effects of corrosion and deterioration caused by strong alkaline agents are eliminated, making it possible to extend the lifespan of the boiler and hot water piping by more than double.

[NMR Pipe Protector Verification Results] Konandai Sanwa Plaza

The red rust blockage rate improved by 13.2% within one year of installation!

This property is 11 years old, and the red rust blockage at the joint of the water supply pipe in the exclusive area had progressed to about 70%. To prevent further progression of the red rust blockage and to avoid future piping renewal work, we adopted the NMR pipe protector, which costs less than one-tenth of that. As a result of an endoscopic investigation, the red rust blockage rate in the toilet water supply pipe at the first joint before the installation of the NMR pipe protector was 69.8%. Twelve months after the installation of the NMR pipe protector, the red rust blockage rate was reduced to 60.6%, showing an improvement of 13.2%. The significant improvement in red rust blockage due to the volume contraction associated with the transformation of red rust to black rust has been demonstrated, confirming the effectiveness of the piping rehabilitation due to the transformation of red rust to black rust.
