In FXO mode, it connects to a telephone line (PSTN) or PBX line and functions as a telephone by detecting ringing signals. The FRM220-CCF is a relay contact converter that opens and closes contacts via a single-core optical fiber link. By inserting an SFP module into the optical fiber port, fiber communication is possible. Using a WDM SFP module also enables bidirectional communication. The FRM220-CCF has contact inputs and a 0.5 amp contact output. The contact closure module has two relay outputs and two relay inputs, with the relay outputs following the "relay input" on the remote side. If the remote "relay input" is short-circuited, the local relay output will close, and vice versa. The second relay output will close when a "carrier" is detected on the remote side. This indicates that the optical fiber is connected and that there is power and operation at the remote end.

This is a series of asynchronous serial optical converter modems that can extend RS-232/422/485 over fiber optics.

The FRM220-SERIAL is an asynchronous RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 transmission modem. It can extend up to 2 km in multi-mode and up to 120 km in single-mode. This modem has multiple interfaces that can connect, including RS-232 and RS485/422 (2/4 wire, full duplex/half duplex).
