Investigation case of strange odors from products

Conduct qualitative analysis of the "main components of odor" and "allergen identification" generated from the sample.

We would like to introduce a case study regarding a complaint from a product user about health issues caused by the product. This investigation focused on the odor components of the product using a Headspace Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (HS-GC-MS) system. A portion of the product was sealed in a container and heated to release odor components. The released odor components in the container were measured, and the detected components were analyzed. It was found that the detected odor components were substances that can cause allergies (limonene and menthol). Our company proposes appropriate methods tailored to customer requests and the characteristics of samples, providing reliable data backed by extensive experience and technical expertise. An analysis case investigating the usage temperature conditions to extend the service life of grease hardened due to oxidation degradation.

Our company is engaged in the analysis solution business. This document provides an overview, analysis principles, and procedures for evaluating the lifespan of grease. The grease used hardened after four years, leading to issues. The cause of hardening was determined to be oxidative degradation through elemental analysis (C/O), infrared spectroscopy, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. To reduce the running costs of grease usage, we conducted kinetic analysis using thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis to investigate temperature conditions that could allow for a minimum service life of seven years.
