Knowledge of Visual Inspection: Verification in Deep Learning (Object Recognition)

I will explain how to proceed with validation in AI (deep learning).

One common question from companies considering the introduction of image recognition and inspection using deep learning is, "How many images do we need to prepare for inspection?" The conclusion is that it cannot be definitively stated. This is because the amount of data required varies significantly depending on the complexity of the object's appearance (color, shape, angle, etc.) and the changing features. In this article, we have organized the basic verification process as follows: 1. Capture images of the product to be inspected and collect approximately a few hundred images (for example, around 200). 2. Select half of those images and provide "annotations" for the object. 3. Use the annotated data as training data for the AI and validate it with the remaining images (testing for recognition). 4. If there are misrecognitions or missed recognitions, increase the number of images or review the annotations and retry. 5. Repeat this "data augmentation → training → validation → readjustment" process until satisfactory accuracy is achieved. *For more details, please refer to the related link (blog).

Verification of Cleaning Properties of New Halogen-Free Solder Paste [Joint Research]

Introduction to the morphological changes in flux residues after soldering and their impact on cleanability.

Solder paste is required to have characteristics such as halogen-free and high wettability in high-reliability areas like the automotive industry. However, even in high-reliability fields, there is a demand for residue-free performance, even for no-clean types, and there are situations where cleaning is necessary. This paste contains difficult-to-dissolve substances that make effective cleaning challenging with conventional "solvent cleaning" methods, revealing issues related to cleaning. Therefore, we conducted cleaning performance verification in collaboration with the developers of the paste. Detailed information can be viewed through the related links. *Detailed information can be viewed through the related links. *The PDF document is a technical material that explains the evolution and challenges of power devices.

Verification of Allergen Management in the Manufacturing Process (Immunochromatography Method)

The allergen map created through wipe tests will serve as an invisible partition, leading manufacturing personnel to voluntarily prevent cross-contamination, among other expected effects.

"Hygiene management based on HACCP" includes "setting verification methods" and "documentation and record-keeping." Additionally, certification standards such as FSSC22000 (Category: C.I.K), JFS-B (Sector: E/L), and JFS-C (Sector: E) require the development and implementation of an allergen management plan. In addition to screening tests for the final product (ELISA method), using monitoring tests during the manufacturing process (immunochromatography method) further enhances the effectiveness of allergen management. By cycling through allergen management steps 1 to 4, it is possible to eliminate allergen points (sources of contamination). 1. Visualization through allergen mapping 2. Problem identification through visualization 3. Hypothesizing and improving contamination causes 4. Verifying improvement effects through wipe tests.

Verification for the improvement of the accuracy of identity testing.

Confirmation test

In May 2014, Japan's membership in PIC/S was approved, leading to the consideration of operational verification tests for all pharmaceutical raw materials used in formulations as required by PIC/S. Furthermore, in 2019, the Raman spectral measurement method was included in the seventeenth revision of the Japanese Pharmacopoeia, second supplement, increasing expectations for Raman spectroscopy. This analytical method has become widely used, ranging from the evaluation of the crystal forms of active pharmaceutical ingredients and research and development of crystallization reactions to quality control measures such as the assessment of content uniformity of active ingredients in formulations and raw material acceptance testing. As its use has expanded, issues have emerged, such as the spectral shifts of fluorescent substances like cellulose and herbal raw materials. In recent years, cases of counterfeit pharmaceuticals have come to light, raising questions about the scientific validation of testing methods and the minimization of human error in pharmaceutical quality control. Therefore, using crystalline cellulose with fluorescent properties as a model raw material, we report the results of constructing a discrimination model using a portable Raman spectrometer and scientifically validating the variability of the discrimination model and test results.
