What is the Kanban method? Explanation of the disadvantages of the Kanban method.

An efficient production method for advancing the manufacturing process! A detailed explanation of the disadvantages.

The Kanban method is a production management technique first invented by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan, and it is an important part of the Just-In-Time system. Specifically, in manufacturing, it involves communicating the amount of materials used up in a later process back to the earlier process to ensure production, thus preventing excess inventory from unnecessary production. Here, it is like an order form that specifies what product to produce, by when, and in what quantity when placing an order for a certain process, which is why this method is called the Kanban method. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. [Manufacturing Industry DX] How to Choose a Production Management System Without Failure and the Benefits of Implementation

Free checklist summarizing the key points for selecting the optimal production management system for your company! Implementing a production management system is key to promoting DX in the manufacturing industry.

In 2024, the performance of factories that have achieved digital transformation (DX) is on the rise. To promote DX in the manufacturing industry, the introduction of a production management system is key. To avoid failures in implementing a production management system, it is important to: - Identify current problems and challenges - Clarify the priorities of the issues to be resolved - Determine whether the system is suitable for your company's industry, size, and production style Organizing the purpose of the implementation and your company's needs is crucial in selecting the right system. Production management systems are often expensive, and choosing one solely based on its multifunctionality can lead to issues such as only being able to use a portion of its features, not achieving cost-effectiveness, increasing workload by aligning business processes with the system's standard specifications, or the staff being unable to utilize it effectively. Therefore, we have prepared a guide titled "37 Checkpoints for Choosing a Production Management System," which summarizes the key points for selecting the most suitable production management system for your company. By simply checking off items on the checklist, you can organize the necessary features. We encourage you to make use of it. Additionally, we also offer a semi-customizable production management system called FUSE, which can be tailored to fit your business and challenges, so please take a look.

[Freely Implementation Case] Kobe Kasei Co., Ltd. / Food Manufacturing Industry

Move away from whiteboard operations and enable real-time sharing of production plans between locations.

At Kobe Kasei Co., Ltd., a food additive manufacturer, the sharing of production plans between locations and departments was insufficient, leading to communication errors such as "I didn't hear" or "I didn't know," frequent phone calls, and transcription mistakes. Previously, operations relied on whiteboards and phone calls, resulting in an inefficient system where every change required contacting all locations. The introduction of the production scheduler "Freely" enabled centralized management of plans on the web, achieving real-time information sharing. With a user interface that is intuitive like a whiteboard and high visibility through color coding, it was smoothly adopted on-site. As a result, the time for planning and sharing was significantly reduced, along with a decrease in phone calls and rewriting tasks. It has also contributed to the elimination of human errors and the realization of flexible working styles that are not location-dependent. This is a suitable case for manufacturing industries with multiple locations or those facing challenges in sharing and responding to changes in production plans. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.*

Design and construction of a production management system using IT weaponization thinking for breaking the current situation.

In the current era where productivity revolution, work style reform, and shorter working hours are being advocated, let's achieve organizational improvement through a production management system that utilizes IT weaponization thinking to break the status quo.

All tasks that do not create added value should be automated with IT! No matter what ERP system you bring in, it won't be usable as is within the company. The uniqueness and specificity of that company may seem to reside within the company itself, but it is actually the collective uniqueness of the people working there that creates the company. We need to externalize the work that is done mentally, making it accessible for others to use, and ultimately allowing the entire company to share it. The concept of IT weaponization thinking is the secret strategy that fundamentally transforms organizations!

[IT System Implementation Case Study] M Company, Industrial Machinery Manufacturer

We will introduce a case where we managed to complete the work without declining, even when orders increased by 1.5 times.

We would like to introduce a case study of the implementation of an IT system at Company M, a manufacturer of industrial machinery. At the company, the person in charge of creating the order management tool left, and the handover was not successful, making it impossible to continue using the tool. As a result, file sharing and management could not be done, leading to each person in charge handling their work separately. After implementing the IT system, inputting purchases into the system enabled daily financial closing, and a page was created on the system for suppliers to view, allowing for real-time information sharing. The issuance of aircraft check sheets was also automated, improving the process so that anyone could handle it. 【Implementation Effects】 ■ Easy and accurate management ■ Elimination of double ordering ■ Real-time information sharing ■ Improved so that anyone can handle it ■ Management has become easier *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study of Business Improvement] Automotive Parts and Design Manufacturing Company (1)

The introduction of a synchronous production management system enables seamless integration of production planning, production progress, and inventory management!

In the automotive parts and design manufacturing industry, there were issues with work-in-progress inventory occurring between processes due to different production cycles for each process, and material procurement needed to be synchronized with production progress. To improve productivity, we aimed to streamline and synchronize the flow of goods from receiving to shipping, pursuing optimized processes. We implemented initiatives to reduce material supply and work-in-progress inventory between processes. As a result, we achieved seamless integration of production planning, production progress, and inventory management, eliminating unnecessary inventory and increasing efficiency. [Examples of Support] - We carried out system modifications to allow for flexible handling of production planning, including additions, deletions, moving plans forward or backward, transferring plans between equipment, and interrupting re-production. - We established a system to automatically arrange only the necessary materials from the warehouse in accordance with production progress. - We installed sensors on picking shelves to notify about picking targets and prevent picking errors. - We introduced handheld devices to conduct inspection processes, thereby preventing shipping errors. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Attention Companies in Okayama Prefecture] A production management system that visualizes the entire factory.

Aiming to achieve IT factory transformation, we are working on a "visualization" system based on the voices from the field.

At Nakashima Propeller, a manufacturer of marine propellers, we produce large propellers with a diameter of nearly 10 meters. The production process of the propellers involves multiple stages, including casting, machining, and finishing. Our goal is to comprehensively and in real-time collect data on production achievements, progress status, location information, yield information, and more at each stage, and to utilize the database information to improve the overall production activities. In the manufacturing site, we have implemented a system using wireless handheld devices that allows for the registration of production achievement data in the most optimal manner at each stage. Additionally, by utilizing large touch panel information terminals installed on-site, we can confirm various collected information in real-time, achieving high-accuracy collection of achievement information. The IT factory is realized by leveraging various cutting-edge IT technologies.

Our company has verified and implemented many production management packages through consulting in the manufacturing industry. 'GEN' includes functions such as production management, sales management, purchasing management, inventory management, and cost management, as well as features like EDI and reporting, which contribute to its recommended light performance and robust security. 【Outstanding Features of GEN】 ■ High degree of flexibility in functionality expansion ■ Simple and Excel-like operability ■ Reasonable pricing structure Traditionally, production management systems have not always been operated in a way that is suited to specific production management relative to their costs. We implement 'GEN' within an average period of 3 to 4 months, providing each company with a unique operational framework and business efficiency. Additionally, we can assist with streamlining operations as part of the preparation for implementation. When reviewing production management systems, please consider 'GEN'! *Case study materials can be viewed immediately via [PDF Download].
