TECHSPEC aspheric cylindrical lenses (cylindrical lenses) focus light in one direction only, achieving diffraction-limited concentration similar to aspheric lenses. They are ideal for forming a fine line profile by reducing spherical aberration along the focusing axis. Additionally, compared to standard cylindrical lenses, they dramatically reduce the spot size of monochromatic light sources, creating sharp and fine lines. ■ Diffraction-limited design ■ Optimal for forming fine line profiles using monochromatic light sources ■ Focus light in one direction only *You can download the 'Optical Components & Optical Instruments Comprehensive Catalog <Sample Version>' from Edmund Optics Japan below.

Free membership registrationSynthetic quartz glass has high transmittance in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 2.2 μm and low thermal expansion characteristics. Ball lenses made from this glass are ideal for applications that require stringent demands using ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared spectra. Additionally, the hemispherical lens, which is half the shape of a ball lens, has the advantage of being easier to join to fiber optic end faces than a ball lens. It is optimal for fiber optic communication, endoscopes, and high NA objective lens SIL (Solid Immersion Lens), among others. ■ Excellent UV transmittance ■ Low thermal expansion coefficient ■ High precision design *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan that features this product from the link below.

Free membership registrationSapphire and ruby, made of hard materials, are resistant to scratches and are ideal for use under harsh conditions. Both are composed of alumina (Al2O3), and the red color of ruby is due to trace amounts of chromium oxide (generally over 0.5% by content). Unlike common optical glass, which has an upper transmission wavelength limit of about 2.3μm, they are transparent up to about 5.5μm. Sapphire and ruby have fundamentally the same physical and chemical properties, but there are slight differences in their optical characteristics. Sapphire is colorless and transparent with high light transmission, while ruby is colored, making it highly visible and easy to handle, which is why it is preferred for mechanical applications. ■ Ideal for use under harsh conditions ■ High strength and hardness ■ Excellent chemical resistance ■ Superior transmission in the IR wavelength range ■ Sapphire & ruby hemispherical lenses are also available *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan, which features this product, from the link below.

Free membership registrationWhile the ball lens has a surface that is entirely polished, the drum lens has a sanded surface on all sides except for the entrance and exit faces, which are processed parallel to the optical axis. This makes handling easier compared to the ball lens, and it also facilitates attachment to a metal frame. Additionally, it contributes to miniaturization and weight reduction. The half drum lens is a special drum lens that has one side polished to a flat surface. The flat processing provides the advantage of easy bonding to the end face of optical fibers. As a lens, it functions like a thick plano-convex lens, and when parallel light is incident, it images at a lower NA (suitable for SM fibers). Both designs of the drum lens can be made from two types of glass: standard optical glass N-BK7 and high refractive index glass N-LaSF9. *Please note that lenses made of N-LaSF9 are available only while existing stock lasts. Thank you for your understanding. *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan from the link below.

Free membership registrationA Fresnel lens is a thin, flat acrylic resin that has been densely engraved with sawtooth grooves in a stepped and concentric circular pattern. Each groove functions as a small refractive surface (prism surface), allowing the entire lens to perform the same function as a large single lens. Some types of Fresnel lenses are also used as magnifying glasses, but they tend to cause more stress on the eyes compared to spherical lenses. For the same focal length, the light transmission rate of a thin Fresnel lens is usually higher than that of a glass lens, making it particularly useful for concentrating sunlight. It is also widely used as a projection lens for overhead projectors (OHP). 【Features】 ■ Positive focal length ■ Options for circular and rectangular shapes ■ Ideal for concentrating applications *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan that features this product from the link below.

Free membership registrationA dielectric multilayer film plane mirror designed to achieve maximum reflectivity (97%) at a wavelength of 633 nm, which is the emission wavelength of He-Ne lasers and semiconductor lasers (LD), when incident at 45°. In the case of mirrors using standard metal film aluminum coatings, only a reflectivity level of about 85-90% can typically be achieved, making this mirror ideal for enhancing the reflection efficiency in optical systems. The backside of the substrate is finished to a mirror-like surface. Note that this product uses float glass for the substrate, so the surface accuracy is not particularly high. Therefore, it is generally not recommended for applications that place a high importance on the wavefront of the reflected laser. ■ Reflectivity of over 95% at the emission wavelength of visible light laser diodes ■ Ideal for systems with multiple reflective surfaces ■ Coating optimized for 45° incidence at a wavelength of 633 nm *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan that features this product from the link below.

Free membership registrationTECHSPEC Right Angle Prism Mirror (Right Angle Configuration Surface Coated Type) features a metallic film applied to the two surfaces that form the right angle of the prism. Like other right angle prisms, it is used for applications that require a 90° deviation of the light path, but the light undergoes total internal reflection at the metallic film surface without entering the glass substrate. Therefore, the reflection efficiency is not affected by the light transmission performance of the glass. Each surface has the function to bend the light path by 90°, allowing the input image to be split into two light paths. Additionally, it can be used to reversibly combine two independent images onto a single camera. ■ Splits the input image into two light paths, each at a 90° deviation ■ Reduces alignment time for the 45° installation of the reflective surface ■ Rich lineup available based on size and broadband coating ■ Extensive lineup of right angle prisms also available *The catalog for Edmund Optics Japan can be downloaded from the link below.

Free membership registrationPrecision elliptical mirrors are ideal for simplifying the design and integration of optical systems. The use of elliptical mirrors with two focal points eliminates the need to place multiple focusing optical elements within a single optical system. By positioning the light source at the first focal point, the light from the source converges to a single point at the second focal point. Two types of coatings are available. An aluminum coating provides high reflectivity across a wide range from visible to infrared. The cold mirror coating allows thermal light (IR) from the light source to pass through while efficiently reflecting only cool light (visible light). This makes it ideal for condenser applications where the effects of thermal light are a concern. ■ Precision optical polishing ■ Borofloat glass used for substrates ■ Some products feature hole processing for convenient light source installation (at the center of the substrate) ■ Coating options with protective aluminum and cold mirror ■ Ideal for solar and condenser applications *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan below.
