Here are some representative measurement examples using actual machines. It is a precision multi-axis machine controlled at a 10nm level. The reduction of the radius in normal arc interpolation is improved by a high position loop gain and pre-interpolation acceleration/deceleration. The techno motion controller allows for high-precision trajectory and speed control in interpolation and synchronous operations. The accuracy is about 1 pulse. If we assume the pulse unit is nm, the command error would be 1 nm. While there are error factors in the actual operation, including the entire servo system comprising the servo amplifier, motor, encoder, and mechanism, the motion controller on the command side can control very accurately and smoothly. With the increase in size and precision of stages, a gantry structure and parallel axis drive mechanisms are becoming necessary. If the table is driven from the center when operating the mechanism, the resistance in the driving direction will occur evenly on both sides. In contrast, if one side is driven due to the mechanism's configuration, twisting (yawing) of the table will inevitably occur. This yawing will lead to inaccuracies in the position of the workpiece on the table. Additionally, there may be cases where central driving is simply not possible due to the table being very large or structural constraints. Continuous path motion is a fundamental performance requirement for motion controllers, and in precision motion control, it is a crucial point that can be considered its essence. It can be rephrased as the accurate continuity of multi-axis interpolation. Accurate continuous interpolation means "no positional error; the trajectory is precise" and "no velocity error; the speed and time are as specified." Fine and high-precision movements consist of a series of very small vectors. In processes such as machining, polishing, and winding, it is necessary to accurately maintain a large number of small interpolations continuously. The operation (processing) time T for one interpolation is determined by the feed speed F and the interpolation length L, where T = L/F. There is a limit to how small this time can be, beyond which the motion controller's control cannot keep up. This is why the minimum time for accurately continuous processing of small interpolations serves as a performance indicator for motion controllers.
