We hope it serves as a reference when transporting hazardous materials or purchasing hazardous material containers. Here, we will explain the steel drums (metal containers) among the hazardous material containers (small containers) recommended by the United Nations. The content of this explanation adheres to the "Regulations on the Maritime Transport and Storage of Hazardous Materials" (Ministry of Transport Ordinance No. 30 of 1957, hereinafter referred to as "Hazardous Regulations"). When transporting containers containing hazardous materials by ship or exporting them abroad, containers marked with the UN mark based on UN recommendations are required. Containers with the UN mark are generally applicable to all modes of transportation, including maritime, air, and land. However, when transporting hazardous materials by air or land (by vehicle or railway) other than maritime transport, it is necessary to consider whether they comply with domestic regulations in Japan (such as the Aviation Act and Fire Service Act) and the regulations regarding the transport of hazardous materials in the destination country.

This document explains content that is considered useful when deciding on the selection and specifications of fluoropolymer coatings, such as comparisons of the properties and performance of fluoropolymers. Fluoropolymer coatings possess excellent characteristics such as chemical resistance and non-stick properties that cannot be obtained with other resin coatings. At Nitto Metal Industry Co., Ltd., we determine the type of fluoropolymer to be used for coating stainless steel containers based on the user's application and contents. *Fluoropolymer coatings are sometimes referred to as Teflon coatings; however, Teflon (fluoropolymer) is a trademark of DuPont Co., and this document refers to them as fluoropolymer coatings. *The "fluoride" used for cavity prevention is a fluorine compound (aqueous solution of sodium fluoride) and is not the same as "fluoropolymer."

• Coating Agent

This section mainly explains the materials used for stainless steel containers in our company. Stainless (Stainless) is a coined term that combines stain (Stain: dirt) and less (Less: less). Stainless steel is used in various fields as a metal that is resistant to rust and possesses many excellent properties, and it comes in many forms such as sheets (thin/thick), wires, bars, pipes (tubes), and shaped steel. There are many types of steel grades, ranging from those that meet JIS standards to those developed uniquely by manufacturers. Additionally, the properties exhibited vary depending on the components and their quantities added.

• Stainless steel container

Here, we mainly explain the inspection standards, inspection content, items, etc., conducted by the quality assurance inspectors of Nitto Metal Industry Co., Ltd., based on inspection requests from users. Our company investigates whether there are any abnormalities or defects and whether the products conform to specifications when manufacturing and shipping stainless steel containers according to the standards set internally. ○ Standard Containers Visual inspections and dimensional inspections are conducted during the processes from receiving to processing, cleaning, and packaging. ○ Custom Containers Inspections are conducted based on product specifications and inspection request details, so the inspection procedures, methods, equipment, and jigs differ for each product. • Stainless steel container

This is a corrosion resistance test in which a silicone emulsion is stored in three types of stainless steel tanks at room temperature for one month. DN-Silicone Emulsion-100,000 is used in a wide range of fields, including cosmetics, textile processing, release paper, defoaming, and food additives. Tank 1: SUS304 buff polished showed holes due to corrosion. Tank 2: SUS304 buff polished followed by electropolishing showed no signs of corrosion progression. • Stainless steel container

When distributing stainless steel containers, various certificates may be required. When exporting abroad, there are non-applicability certificates and U.S. re-export regulations (EAR) to prove that the items are not strategic materials (such as weapons of mass destruction or nuclear fuel). There are also regulations regarding environmentally hazardous substances, such as the RoHS Directive, REACH regulations, and green procurement. Additionally, while Nitto Metal Industry does not handle this, exporting to Europe requires a CE mark, and exporting to China requires CCC certification, among others. There are various methods to check the internal condition of a tank, such as viewing windows, level gauges, pressure gauges, safety valves, and thermometers.
