New East Industrial's strain gauge-type 6-axis force sensor "ZYXer" adopted as an option by three robot manufacturers.
The strain gauge-based 6-axis force sensor "ZYXer" from Shin-Etsu Industrial Co., Ltd. has been officially adopted as an option for industrial robots by major domestic robot manufacturers, including Denso Wave Inc., Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and Fanuc Corporation (in no particular order). In recent years, work robots that contribute to automation and labor-saving have been active in various situations due to labor shortages in production sites and the efficiency improvements brought about by work style reforms. However, there are challenges related to response accuracy and speed when it comes to tasks that require changing movements and forces based on human tactile sensations, making it difficult to completely replace all tasks with robots. Against this backdrop, the demand for our ZYXer, which provides robots with a sense of force, is expanding. [Case Study: Food] Transportation of Dairy Product Cups
The case study introduced this time is from Choceňská mlékárna, a company located in the town of Choceň, 100 miles east of Prague, Czech Republic, which produces brands of spreads, yogurt, and curd cheese. Since its establishment about 90 years ago, the company has been committed to high quality standards and has implemented automation in mass production and more reliable production routes. Additionally, a new line has been designed and introduced to package popular dairy products in the Czech Republic at a speed of 20,000 units per hour. The six Stäubli robots that were introduced have greatly contributed to improving production flexibility, allowing for very quick reconfiguration of the system to accommodate various products, and efficient automation enables the production capacity of the line to flexibly adapt to the constantly increasing demand.
